Technical Designer There is an immediate opening for a Technical Designer in the Knit division of Jones Apparel Group. Responsibilities include but are not limited to fitting garments from development to production stage for the Knit Division. Work on specs and communicate comments/corrections to agents and vendors. Must have knits experience – sweaters and cut + sew, be able to analyze patterns and be familiar with grading. Associate Designer The Gloria Vanderbilt division of Jones Apparel Group is currently looking for an Associate Designer. The basic responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting the design team in all aspects of line development, developing fabrics and trims and managing tracking and follow-up, preparing first specs and technical packages, tracking and following-up on samples, preparing art for
embroideries, prints and yarn dye patterns, lab dips, fit and wash approvals and preparing sales tools. Candidates must have strong design and conceptual skills, must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and the ability to draw flat sketches. Must also have strong organizational, time-management and communication skills. College degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred and 2-4 years of experience. Designer The Kasper division of Jones Apparel Group is currently looking for a Modern Career Suit Designer. The basic responsibilities will include but are not limited to sourcing colors seasonally and fabrics and prints with R&D staff; assisting in concepts, maintaining organization of the design walls and presentation boards, participating in fittings. Candidates must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills. Must be able to sketch, have good visual and presentation skills, taste level for color, print and embellishment. Must have an understanding of the fit process. Associate Textile Sourcing and Development Work with design to confirm and keep track adopted fabrics. Work with suppliers to obtain and review all details relating to adopted fabrics- entering this information into plm system. Following up with design/product development to make sure goods are approved and ready for production on time. Planning schedules for buying fabric based on lead times, c/o, transit times, etc. Following up with sales to get buys on time to meet above schedules Working with design/qc/supplier to establish standards to be used for bulk for each fabric/color. Liaison with between Jag/suppliers on various day to day issues
