Bogor - President Joko Widodo talked about his support to Indonesian riders in the world level. In addition, he also mentioned the circuit for MotoGP Indonesia. In 2019, there were many Indonesian riders competing in the world championship. There are Dimas Ekky Pratama riding at Moto2, Mario Suryo Aji at CEV Moto3, and Galang Hendra at World Super Sport 300. In a meeting with Dorna Sport, the promoter of MotoGP, at the Bogor Palace on Monday (03/11/2019), Jokowi emphasized that Indonesia should have the courage to build a circuit to help the progress of the country's riders. "Yes, we will have it later in Qatar. There is a Moto2 that is attended by us, there is Dimas Ekky too. But there is also Mario for Moto3 too. This I think we really have to dare to step up, prepare [circuit]. That’s indeed the duty of Menpora (Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports) to help us later having a circuit in Mandalika, "he explained.

Now, Indonesia has signed an agreement with Dorna Sport to hold a MotoGP in 2021. The circuit prepared is the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, which will conceptualize a street race circuit. Jokowi considered Dorna Sport CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta in the meeting at Bogor Palace praising the Mandalika Circuit concept. He considered, the circuit was praised because it was considered very good and really close to the beach. "Earlier Mr. Carmelo said that this was a street circuit which he said was very beautiful, really close to the beach. The beach was beautiful and the circuit is really close with the beach," he added. "This means we will get two benefits, in addition to sports, our tourism will also be more famous by brand.
