(continued on the back)

“から” is used to indicate a reason, similar to “because” in English. 例: ペンがないから新しいのを買う。 I’m buying a new pen because I don’t have one. 学生だから仕事はしていない。 That person doesn’t have a job because he’s a student. 今日はシアトルに行く。会議があるから。 I’m going to Seattle today. It’s because I have a meeting there. REMEMBER: • With から, the reason comes first. • Nouns are paired with です, and when a noun comes before から it needs the plain form of です, which is だ. (e.g. 好きだから…) 次の文章を、「から」を使って日本語で書きなさい: 1. I don’t like Japanese food, so I’m not going to eat any sushi. (「から」を使いなさい) _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ 2. Because I woke up late, I didn’t take a shower this morning. (「から」を使いなさい) _______________________________________________________________________________ 3. That’s enough (literally, it’s good) so knock it off. (「から」を使いなさい) _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ 4. Since I’m tired, I can’t study. I’ll do it later. (「から」を使いなさい) _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ 5. I usually don’t give people money, but since you’re my friend I’ll give you a little bit. (「から」を使いなさい) _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ 6. This movie is really boring, so let’s watch something else. (「から」を使いなさい) _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________

*Mistakes related to sentence endings (i.e. verb, adjective, noun+desu) will be penalized.
