HOPE CHARTER SCHOOL
On January 7th, students took a practice PSSA Writing test, and the students in Ms. Hickson’s and Ms. Capers’ seminar were treated to pizza for having the highest percentage of attendance during the practice test. In addition, we began giving a PSSA Test Taking Tip of the Day via the morning broadcast, as well as a word of the day. Each day, a Math Problem of the Day is also distributed to 11th grade students in seminar. Students are invited to solve the problem and drop their response, including their work, in a box. Each day a correct response is drawn from the box and the student receives a small reward. Each month leading up to the different testing sessions, certain classes will come Test Prep Boot Camps. During the PSSA Writing Boot Camp in January, Mr. Syeed King will be reviewing strategies for editing and writing. During the PSSA Reading and Math Boot Camp in February, Mr. Syeed King will be reviewing strategies for taking the reading test, while Mr. Bujak will focus on Math strategies. In March, Mr. Bujak will conduct a Science Boot Camp in preparation for that test. Incentives for attendance during the actual test sessions will also be given to students.
