NIPUNA NIPUNA ‘07 is ‘a National level Student Workshop on Managerial & Interpersonal Skills’ held on 24th and 25th of Feb ’07. It was organized by our ISTE Students’ Chapter under the aegis of our Training & Placement Cell. This event was organized with an objective of providing those aspiring to enter the corporate world or to pursue higher education with necessary information. It was attended by over 180 students of outside colleges alone along with hundreds of students from our own college. NIPUNA ‘07 was constituted of four main events viz., ANGIRASA, BHAGIRADHA, PRAKASAKA, and VISLESHANA. These four events are held to bring out various talents of the students to the fore. Each of these events is detailed below. ANGIRASA: Angirasa means expert talk. In this event, HRs and professionals holding various positions in some prestigious corporations were invited to talk on topics that have immediate relevance to the student body. The gist of those talks is as follows: Mr. Russell Purushotham of Wipro addressed students on the essential qualities that are required to become a good professional in the global arena. Mr. Purushotam also gave the students the most basic and most essential tips to make it through any kind of interview, whether technical or academic or professional. Mr. Tarun Kishore of Infosys has elucidated students on what it takes to enter the corporate world and how one can manage it. His talk underscored the importance of planning one’s academics carefully and maintaining a good percentage in engineering. Mr. Srinivasu Satti of Satyam gave the students an overview of the economy and the job scenario at both global and Indian level and clarified some of the doubts the students had regarding pursuing an MBA degree and regarding entrepreneurship.

Mr. Vivekananda of TCS talked about having the right mindset and right attitude to make it big anywhere. Mr. Vivekananda had some sound suggestions for those of the students who hail from rural background and who are weak at their communication skills. Each of the four talks was followed by the interaction of students with the speaker during which the students got many of their questions answered. A videoconference was also held with Mr. Venu Myneni of Radiant Systems, USA, an alumnus of our college. Various topics relevant to academics and career were discussed in the conference. On the whole, Angirasa has helped the students get a clear vision and set their future goals. BHAGIRADHA: Bhagiradha is a test of versatility. This test was staged in two rounds. In the first round, the students were tested objectively in General Awareness, Logical Ability and Aptitude. Six finalists were short listed to the second round where they were tested for their spontaneity, creativity and their presentation skills. They were each given a logo or a picture and were asked to speak on that. Mr. Vivekananda of TCS adjudged the second round. VISLESHANA: Visleshana is a group discussion. Faculty from the leading coaching institute TIME adjudged the discussions. All through the program they conducted various types of GDs and gave students some valuable tips while evaluating each of the participants. In this program, the students had an opportunity to participate in some lively and skilled discussions. Many CAT aspirants have benefited from this event.

PRAKASAKA: Prakasaka is an Ad making contest. The participants made many humorous and interesting advertisements on products ranging from facial creams to cars to shoes. While some of the ads were shown on a storyboard, most were enacted to thunderous applause from the students. One aspect this event has brought out from the students is teamwork. Most of the participants grouped on the spot, at times even with their unacquainted peers from other colleges. Apart from the above four events, the students benefited from their interactions with students from many colleges, some even from outside Andhra Pradesh. These interactions have helped students share some enriching experiences and expand their network of acquaintances. Many a relationships have bloomed during this two-day event. And as for the members of the ISTE Students’ Chapter, NIPUNA ’07 has offered a new challenge and an enriching experience of working in teams and meeting deadlines and targets, evaluating and estimating the resources and requirements under dynamic working conditions.
