 PROGRAMES ORGANISED BY ISTE STUDENTS’ CHAPTER DURING THE YEAR 2005- 2006 POSTER MARKING CONTEST:

This program was organized for all 2nd, 3rd and 4th years. To inculcate the presentation skills, effective campaigning techniques, Teamwork, Chart making abilities. The participants were made to form groups of 3 or 4 members. The team members prepare a Poster on a particular topic and exhibit them. They come prepared to exhibit their poster on the day of presentation. It was during the month of July 5th ,2005. The number of students participated in this contest are 60 Winners: 1. CH. This program was organized for 2nd years. The students were made to speak about some technical article and answer the questions asked by the judges and the audience. This was organized in the month of July on 18th, 2005 The no. of participants is l20 Winners:

This program is organized for second years to test their creative story telling ability. They were made to enter a fantasy world and imagine themselves facing a funny situation and narrate how they would react to that situation & Students participated in this program is 86 which was held on Aug.,8th ,2005. AWAKENING INDIANS TO INDIA:

This program is organized for second years to make them aware of our national leaders, our Indian culture and our achievements. The students were asked to speak about the relevant topics. The participants are 57. It was held on Sept,6th (Wednesday) 2005. Winners: 1. Naga Satish. G (2nd ECE) and Balaji (2nd Mech). 2. Shankey Jain (2nd ECE) CREATIVE WAVES OF IMAGINATIION:

This program is organized for second years in the month of Sept, 19th (Tuesday) 2005. This is a preliminary group discussion where the students are asked to discuss the different views to a simple picture showed on the spot. This program is organized to test

their creativity and to introduce them what a group discussion is. The students who actively took part in this program is 68 Winners:

This is a program organized for second years the no. of students who actively participated are 68.This was a three stage program, the first stage was a written test, the second was a stage performance where the students are asked to talk about a particular topic and the third stage was an interview and held on the date of Oct, 30th 2005.. This is a creative program which has been conducted for second years to test the spontaneity on stage. It created awareness in the students about the necessity of doing the

right thing on the right time. In the program participants are asked to respond to a given situation and speak spontaneously. The turn out for the program was 80 conducted on Nov,3rd 2005. Winners:

HIDDEN FACTS (A NON TECHNICAL PAPER PRESENTATION):

This is an innovative program organized for second years that makes the students aware of some of the secrets hidden in this world. All the participants browsed the web pages and referred many books to shine up their papers and conducted on Nov, 22nd, 2005 and the turn out of this programme is 37 Some of the interesting topics are: a. How did Netaji die? b. The Pyramids. Winners:

TROUBLE SHOOTERS:

It is a program organized for second years. The total input is 57 and intended to increase social awareness. The participants were asked to speak about the problems prevailing in the society and suggest a solution. Many problems such as water scarcity, brain drain, scandals in politics, Indo-Pak issue, Iraq War etc. were discussed in this program held on Dec,5th ,2005.. Winners:

CELEBRITY TALK:

This program is organized for second years. The main concept of this program is that the participants were given a famous celebrity and they were asked to talk like them. They were asked questions by the audience along with the judges about the controversies the celebrities were involved in. This made the students know better about famous personalities the total out put was around 58. and conducted on Dec,22nd ,2005. Winners:

ECPERIENCES OF YOUNG WAVES:

The main concept of the program is to involve all the students and make them feel free on stage and get rid of their stage fear. Keeping this in view this initial program was designed and the participant was made to talk of any experience in his life. This made the students learn from others experiences. The program was organized separately for both 1st and 2nd years. No, of participants are 46 and held on Jan 6th 2006. Winners from second years:

WAR OF WORDS:

This is organized for second years. This is a debate and participants were divided into groups of two each. They were given a topic on current controversial issue. On has to talk supporting the issue and other contradicting the issue. Finally they have to arrive at a conclusion which brings a good result of that issue. The basic idea of organize this program is to make the second years aware of the positive and negative sides of an issue and make a good conclusion out of it. The total out put of the program is 75 organized on 23rd , Jan, 2006.

ANALYSE AN ARTICLE:

This program is organized for third years and the participants were asked to analyze a hundred to one fifty word article from an English newspaper. They presented their views either contradicting or supporting the author’s idea. This program is intended to make the students aware of the current issues and the benefits of reading a newspaper. The total no. of participants is 74 conducted on Jan 31st of 2006 Winners:

QUIZZES:

Two general quizzes, one for third years and the other for first years have been organized to test their general knowledge. The students were screened in a written examination and then they were divided into groups of four. The total input of this program is Feb, 9th, 2006. Winners from first years:

MOCK TESTS AND MOCK INTERVIEWS:

Two preliminary mock campus recruitment tests were held in the first semester for the third years and two mock. TCS tests, a mock INFOSYS, a mock SATYAM tests were held in the second semester of this year. Then were interactive sessions between the final years who got recruited in various MNCs or achieved CAT, GRE or GATE scores, and their juniors. A lecture on HOW TO PREPARE YOUR RESUME was given by our senior EBM Mr. Rajesh.

The resumes of the students were collected they were

interviewed by the senior executive body members. A mock CAT examination, mock 1-FLEX test and group discussions were organized for the final years. OUR PLANS FOR THE YEAR 2006 - 07 We will divide ourselves into the following groups. 1. ROBOTICS: Students irrespective of their branches and years of study from into groups and make a working model like a remote controlled toy car, a toy crane etc., ECE, CSE and

IT students work on the interfacing and software design sections, MECH, CSE and CIVIL can work on mechanical modeling and motoring circuits. 2. SOFTWARE: This group is intended to make the students of branches other than CSE and IT also to acquire Software knowledge and learn the practical applications of the languages they learnt by joining with the students of CSE and IT. The CSE and IT students lead the team. They form into groups and work on small software projects and discuss topics related to computing. 3. TECHNICAL: Students are given the opportunity to give a seminar on latest technological updates and the booming technologies like nanotechnology, embedded systems, automatation etc. The relevant topics will be discussed. 4. SOCIAL ASWARENESS: This group mainly concentrates on latest news updates, book reviews, and personality development programs. Articles relevant to these sectors will be placed in the notice board. 5.

ORGANISING PROGRAMS:

This is mainly to develop the organizing skills of students and encourage them to participate in programs to get rid of their stage fear and improve their confidence. This sector also includes organizing mock tests and interview sessions to help the students in getting a job.
