RESEARCH
Common beliefs of different school shooters since the 1990s, worldwide, that lead them to commit crimes [and if there is any possible way to prevent these beliefs from forming].
Through this project, I hope to achieve the following, with the help of interviews, psychology studies, and criminologist reports: To find out similarities between the mindsets of this class of criminals, worldwide To find out what leads them to commit crimes To find out if this can be prevented or not
3. Context
Personally, psychology has always interested me.
A description of the background to the research outlining the key issues to be explored which have guided the general approach adopted.
With increasing amounts of school shootings occurring, especially due to lack of gun control, I believe that a more detailed research into these happenings should be conducted in order to prevent the spread of media misinformation, aside from simply being a bigger topic of interest now.
4. Methods A description of the methods to be used to gather data and information that will be used as evidence. This should include an explanation of the reasons for the choice of method.
5. Sources of Data and Evidence A description of the sources of data and information that will be used as evidence. This should include an explanation of the reasons for the choice of sources. This might
include locations, what
With the romanticization of mentally ill school shooters such as Klebold, [https://broadly.vice.com/en_us/article/3dx93w/the-columbine-shooters-the-girlswho-love-them-and-me] I believe that it is more imperative now than ever to dismiss these incorrect views on not only mental illnesses, but attraction towards criminals [read:Hybristophilia] Second hand research, since most of this is in the past now and I cannot first-hand access these sources of information. - Interviews, reports, studies
- Take personal, first hand perspectives from available media such as Elliot Rodger’s manifesto that I can better understand their perspective on their own beliefs - Take psychologist reports on mental health to understand the case-specific opinion on their psyche - To link it to psychological studies recently conducted in order to find common connections and root causes, and if this can be prevented in the future
types of data, how much information is required, who is involved, and sample size.
6. Possible Problems A description of potential difficulties or limitations that might affect the research, for example issues of access, time, cost, ethical considerations, confidentiality, bias and understanding of other cultures. This might include some explanation of how these difficulties might be overcome.
7. Analysing Data and Evidence An explanation of how the data and information will be used to answer the research questions.
Might not get enough perspectives or a wide enough sample size, missing out on subjects due to unavailability of resources. Nothing can be done about this, but I believe that for research such as this, if correlation is in fact found in even some segment of the sample size, it means that the underlying factors are valid as there can be multiple factors affecting different types of people. My aim is to document as many as possible. Biases due to second hand research; interviewees might be misleading, and the psychologists might be biased. To eliminate this as far as possible I will crosscheck it with other sources of the same information, e.g., different interviews of the same person.
Interviews will offer plenty of insights into the person’s mind, allowing me to explore their beliefs. Criminologists will attempt to explain the belief, its root cause, and its classification, which will make it easier to connect the dots and see it from a third person’s view. The psychology studies will be of the “classifications” or “explanations” given above, which will give me more information about the background and root cause. For example, most psychologists might pinpoint “ostracization” as the root cause. I can find psychology papers on “ostracization” to better explain this phenomenon.

Research examining what domestic violence is, why it occurs, why it is tolerated, its effects on members of the family, why people think it is okay to commit this act, as well as explore different perspectives about domestic violence. Through this project, I hope to achieve the following, with the help of available resources, both online and offline: To explain what domestic violence is and inform people of its seriousness. To find out how common domestic violence is. To find out which kind of domestic violence is the most common. To understand the mindset of people who commit this act, and analyse their behaviour. To understand why people choose to stay in a household as a victim of domestic violence, and tolerate it. To understand its effects on other members of the household ie. children, parents, etc. How many people approach and thereby, get the help they need, as well as find out why people choose not to get help. The global, national, and personal view on domestic violence. Domestic violence is a social issue that has been prevalent in society since numerous generations. Personally, a few members of my family have been victims of this issue as well, and I would like to understand the psychology behind it. To look into the psychology behind it, and people who face or have faced it, I have decided to choose this as a topic for my individual report.
- take a look at past surveys, in order to understand multiple experiences and perspectives on domestic violence, as well as find out statistically how many people go through it. - watch psychologist interviews about the topic. -articles - other second hand research, like blogs, case studies I look take a look at past online surveys. It will be an easy way to gather research on how many people have gone through domestic violence and their thoughts on it. Secondary research like psychologist interviews, theories, newspaper articles and such can be used as well, since it is easily accessible.
6.. Analysing Data and Evidence An explanation of how the data and information will be used to answer the research questions.
By looking at the survey results, and with the help of secondary research, we will be able to tell how common domestic violence is, and how much people get help for it.
