INSTALLATION GUIDE

Dumaplast® - Installation Guide

1.1

Installation on Uneven and Damaged Walls 

In case of uneven or damaged walls, a wooden framework is fixed to the wall in order to provide a flat surface onto which the panels are fitted. 1x4 strapping is installed facing the opposite direction of the panels (e.g. if the panels are placed horizontally, then the 1x4’s are placed vertically). The 1x4’s are placed maximum 40cm (16 inch) apart.

Installation on Uneven and Damaged Walls

Fasten the accompanying pvc trims to the studs with screws, nails, glue or staples.

Select the first board and remove the tongue on the left-side of the board and cut to length. Place the board onto the 1x4 into the trim with the front of the panel towards you and the groove-side to the right. Fasten the board on the groove-side by the end lip using screws, nails or staples, or apply glue at the back of the panel to fix it entirely to the studs.

Select the next panel, put the tongue in the groove until you have a good fit, and fasten the board again on the groove side using the same method as before. Continue this step until you hit the end of the wall.

Installation on Flat Surfaces

In case of a flat and even wall, a simple adhesive can be used without having to use a wooden framework. The pvc panels even can be glued straight onto existing ceramic tiles, without removing these tiles. Painted surfaces should be suitably prepared before applying any adhesive.

Fasten the accompanying pvc trims to the surface with a good contact adhesive.

Select the first board and remove the tongue on the left-side of the board and cut to length. Place the board onto the surface into the trim with the front of the panel towards you and the groove-side to the right. Fasten the board on the surface by applying the adhesive evenly to the surface of the wall, or back of the board, in a zigzag pattern.

Select the next panel, put the tongue in the groove until you have a good fit, and fasten the board again on the groove side using the same method as before. Continue this step until you hit the end of the wall.

Hints & Tips

Do not mount load bearing accessories directly onto Dumaplast® panels, but drill holes through the panels directly into the studs or walls depending on the accessory, and use screws to fasten the accessories into the studs or walls.

In a shower area apply a narrow silicone bead into the groove section of the board to ensure complete protection against moisture. Run a silicone bead around the edge of a bath or shower tray. Fit ends of board down onto bead to seal it off.

On corners, either use a Universal Corner or remove back section from board to allow bending. Firmly secure bent board and previous board using screws.

When fitting halogen ceiling lights, holes can be drilled in the panel. There should be a 10mm gap between the halogen bulb and the Dumaplast® panels
