Structure Focus The Use of Verb ‘to be’ with Adjectives in Present Verb ‘to be’ links the subject of a sentence with a word or group of words in the predicate. When the sentence doesn’t have a verb as predicate, verb ‘to be’ replaces its place. The word that was linked by Verb ‘to be’ is called predicate word. The predicate word may be predicate noun or predicate pronoun, when the words linked are noun or noun phrase, or predicate adjective when the words linked are adjective or adjective phrase.
