INSTRUCTIONS

This worksheet is envisaged to develop Hydraulic profile for new pipelines with automatic identification of optimum pump statio location. The inputs to be given are marked Blue in Head calculations. The pipeline friction losses are calculated basis Moody friction factor with empirical formula for turbulent flow f = 1.325/(ln((e/3.7D)+(5.74/Re 0.9))2. i.e (5000<=Re<=108 ) & (10-6 <= e/D <= 10-2.). For laminar flow f = 64/Re i.e Re<=2100.

Marginal losses in main line due to bends, valves etc.. have not been considered and are suggested to be included in station b pressure for simplicity in calculations.

Inputs marked in blue can be varied at any time and it's effect can be seen in hydraulic profile, which chart has been developed the given range of variables. For changes in no. of input variables addition or deletion of rows in "Head calculations" sheet nee be made anywhere within the data range but not at first or last row. For new rows, the formulae marked in red can be copied an pasted.

Total Head' term used in these workings mean the total of static elevation head and guage pressure at that pipeline point durin rated flow operations.

Actual guage head shall not be less than 1 Kg/Sq. cm to avoid line depacking. Actual Total Head should be within the Permissi Total Head.
