Milford Mountain Trails
Big John Flat--Kimberly Road- This is a 51 kilometer one-way bike trail. It climbs from 2440 meters to 3355 meters then drops to 1800 meters in elevation. The ride is a five to seven hour trip. The trail winds
through pines and aspens up past the timber line. Wildlife commonly seen in this area includes elk, deer, and small wild animals.
Puffer Lake Loop- This is a 13.5 kilometer loop that takes two to four hours. It starts by Big John Flat which is about 3050 meters. It then climbs up to City Creek Peak at 3200 meters and then drops down to Puffers Lake at about 3000 meters elevation. This trail offers excellent opportunities for trout fishing.
Indian Creek Out & Back- Drive north of Milford 17 kilometers through Manderfield and then take Indian Creek Road for about eight kilometers to the Forest Service boundary to start your bike ride. The ride starts at an elevation of 2000 meters and climbs steadily to Indian Creek Reservoir at 2400 meters for a distance of 11 kilometers or 22 kilometers round trip. The trail follows the Indian Creek with a wide range of vegetation and a sparkling stream. Old mines can be found in the area so be careful.
Kent's Lake- This trail starts at the Copes Basin Campground in Milford Canyon and climbs 530 meters in the nine kilometer ride to Kent's Lake. This is a two to three hour ride where you can stop to picnic or fish at the lake. The ride back out is all downhill. This makes it a nice beginner's ride.
Paiute All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Trail. This trail is a 325 kilometer loop over three mountain ranges and through rugged canyons and deserts that have been designed for recreational ATV riding. It is located north of Milford and borders the Fish Lake National Forest. There are numerous possible side trips leading to spectacular scenery, fishing opportunities, and picnic and camping sites.
The portions of the trail that go through the Tushar Mountains also make excellent mountain bike trails. Refer to the map of the trail. Be careful and watch for ATV riders.
Special Events
Our Fourth of July Day 10K family bike ride has become a favorite with the local communities. It is a nice ride up into the foothills and back.
