Summary Research has found that even low to moderate consumption of alcohol gives greater cancer risk in women. Cancers such as breast, liver, rectum and upper aero-digestive tract has increased nearly 13 percent. Naomi Allen from the University of Oxford, U.K. have found that one drink per day were average in women in industrial country. The risk of any type of cancer increased with increasing alcohol consumption, as did the risk of some specific types of cancer, including cancer of the breast, rectum, and liver. Women who also smoked had an increased risk of cancers of the oral cavity and pharynx, esophagus, and larynx. An additional drink regularly consumed per day increases 11 breast cancers per 1000 women up to age 75. There are about 118 cancers per 1000 women in developed countries. They conclude that "there is no level of alcohol consumption that can be considered safe." V. Evaluation This article talked about the study of alcohol and its impact on women in developed countries. They have found that cancer possibility increases when women consume alcohol even if they don't consume much. This article interested me because it gives me the idea of how dangerous alohol really is. I liked this article because I can now conclude that alcohol consumption can be really as harmful as we thought it would be. This enables me to choose to not consume alcohol at all because I know what it can do to people, especially for me as a female.
