BORIC ACID APLICATIONS Because of it's features boric acid can be applied in different fields as following:

Insulation Industry (cellulose Insulation) Boric acid is a wonderful flame retardant that can be used for cotton, cellulose, wood, textile products and other materials. Energy conservation.

Corrosion inhibitor Mixed with ethylene glycol in automobile motor cooling systems. Boric acid can be applied as corrosion and anti-freeze. Besides, it can be used in heat treatening, metallic products, hydraulic fluids and brewing.

Pesticides It is a very useful tool in both controlling and eliminating insects and fungi. Furthermore, results are good independient of location and environment. It is a toxic element to ants, scarabs, larvages and other insects. However, is not dangerous to mammals.

Pharmaceutical application It is applied as a PH buffer and as a moderate antiseptic agent and emulsifier. In addition it is also a component of: · Mouth – whashes · Bath salts · Shampoos · Creams ·

Ointments, etc

Detergents and Soaps · · · · ·

Soften the whashing water Enhance the solubility of other ingredients Act as pH buffer Anti-bacterial properties eliminate micro organism Act as a gentle but powerful bleaching agent

Ceramics Because melting point can be reduced by it’s elements, boric acid can be also used on production of ceramic frits and borosilicate glazes. Provide good fluxing properties and it's also a good base for disolving colouring agents.

Wood preservatives and timber Preservation · · ·

Prevent and control the spread of bacteria Inhibit corrosion Act as a flame retardant

Metallurgy The boron content eliminates impurities metallurgist systems. That’s why, a high and pure material has gotten. This material is able to provide great results on electrical conductors especially. · Dissolve and remove un wanted metal oxides as slag · Used as cover fluxes www.tierra.bo

Glass Industry & Fiber glass Boric acid is applied in glass industry to reduce thermal and mechanical shocks and Boron provide great results on fiberglass and boronsilicate glass, wich is the strong heat-resistant glass that contains a minimum of 5 percent boric oxide. What’s more, boron fiber offer a magnificent high tensile strength and can be added to plastic in order to make a material that is stronger than steel yet and lighter than aluminium. · Reduce the temperature at which fibres are formed · Improve the durability of the glass fibres · Reduce the viscosity of the molten glass · Increase the bio solubility of the glass fibres

Other uses · · · · · ·

Automobile airbag Magnets Photografy Fuel Optical fibres Adhesives
