Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens Opened to the public in 1864 after four years of preparation, this garden is one of the world’s oldest zoological and botanical centres. There are more than 1,000 species of plants beautifully displayed in the gardens. The aviaries and spacious pens house about 500 birds, including American flamingos. By all means, look, listen and enjoy the birds. To be on the safe side however, avoid any direct contact with them. Besides the aviary, your kids will also love seeing animals like the buff-cheeked gibbon, jaguar, two-toed sloth and a Borneo orang-utan. Learn about wildlife at the zoological and botanical gardens.
