Conclusions A new barium free and boron free glass ceramic sealant in system of CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 with up to 10% mole of Na2O and K2O were prepared and examination the primary requirement of sealant for planar designed solid oxide fuel cells. The addition of Na2O and K2O in glass composition result to decrease Tg and Td of bulk glass while the CTE of is increase with increasing of Na2O and K2O. The individual addition Na2O and K2O show higher effect on thermal properties and the CTEs of glasses and glass ceramics in this system than addition of mixed alkali oxides. The sintered glasses at 900°C for 2 h as glass ceramic show increase of CTE than their glassy phase. The good joining of AlSI 430 stainless steel was performed by using glass ceramics containing nepheline (NaAlSiO4) phase and Kaliophilite (KAlSiO4) phase.
