He’s Always There Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Mt 28:20 What was the most difficult or frightening place in your life? Were you victim or victor? Assuredly, in this awful place, you felt totally alone, and defenseless. The loaded rifle was inches from my chest. A maniac stood at the other end, beginning to pull the trigger. Doubtlessly, I was being killed. My arms crashed against the barrel of the rifle. Bullets passed harmlessly between my legs. Terror gripped my entire being. I was victimized. My psychologist patted my hand, then said “this time we’ll pray and ask the Holy Spirit to accompany you back through this memory to reveal Christ. Think you can do it with God?” Trembling, I nodded in assent. We prayed, inviting the Holy Spirit to come accompany me back into time. Then I purposely forced my mind to return to the memory. Again I faced the rifle. Suddenly the scene opened up. Jesus stood between me and the rifle. Behind me a huge angel grabbed my arms, bringing them up, next crashing them down over the rifle barrel in lightning speed. Surrounding me were angels, (Ps 34:7). Totally impregnable, I was the victor. One demon sat on my ex-husband’s shoulder chattering into his ear. He was the victim. By choosing to listen to the lies of satan, he gave up his freedom. Instead of life, he chose a path of murder, rape and finally Indiana’s death row.
After twenty-eight years, freedom came to me. The instant I saw Jesus with me, I was no longer bound with haunting memories and inferiority. I knew the truth. God had never left me. He was there even then. He’s Word says He’s always been with you too. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you in your darkest hour. Once you see His Presence protecting you, you’ll no longer be the victim. Now, you’ll be able to walk out your freedom and victory. Jesus, we’ve been crippled in life by this victim mentality. Let us see where you were in our darkest hour. When we see ourselves protected, we’ll finally be able to live as victors, protected by You.
