MORENO-a drug- free barangay Moreno declared a drug free barangay according to Municipal Mayor Ramon V. Guico III. Barangay Captain Glory Juvelyn Manaois Prado, with the help of the people of the community were able to identify and surrender around 20 drug addicts for rehabilitation, August 20. ”The War on Drugs program of our President Rodrigo Duterte is a big help to the people. We constantly monitor those who surrenders, give them community works, involve in sports and Bible study”, Manaois said. The process may not be easy but if we will work together we will achieve totally our long waited dreams to continuously have a drug- free community. When the newly elected President assumed office, his first call is to get rid of the bad elements in our society, particularly the spread of illegal drugs, that destroys the dignity of the Filipino. With the able leadership of our local officials, they adhere to the call and started to identify the barangays in Binalonan that has a problem with drug addiction, sadly, Barangay Moreno is one of the barangay that carries a burden of having some of it’s local folks to be a dependant of the menace drugs such as shabu and marijuana that brings nothing but to destroy the life of those who get into it. Through the initiative of Barangay Captain Glory Manaois, with the help of the people of the community, together with the relatives of the drug dependent, was able to identify about twenty drug addicts, they are convinced to surrender and now subject for rehabilitation. Among the activities done by the surrenderees are, community works, getting involve to sports like basketball, bible study and sharing to renew their faith in God, and the constant monitoring of the local police. The process of doing this is not easy, yet they are determined to change for they are aware that their bad habit leads them to no where. The program is effective and just recently, with the recommendation of the Chief of Police of the town of Binalonan,the Honorable Mayor Ramon V. Guico III, declared Barangay Moreno a drug free barangay.

Wilard A.Subido silver medalist and Cherdems De La Vega, gold medalist;both in Grade VI-Neptune bagged an award in high jump and triple jump as well.MES owned the crowned for two consecutive years which led our former RIAA athletes Jeff Ruzzel Siador last year also in triple and high jump.

The proud coach Arlyn S.Grande uttered,” We really have a great fight every year because we trained a lot and work hard to gained that award.We thanks God that every year we are lucky enough to win in this category”. “ I hope such excellent performance will continue to flourish even until the next generation Grande added.

It is the second time that Zone Meet happened in MES and were glad that inspite of some problems encountered,the events was successfully done.
