Are you a parent? Do you work with parents? If so, we need your input to develop a citywide Parent Charter. The Parent Charter will provide a consistent message to parents about the value of their parenting role and help support children, youth and their families. charter (noun): a formal document granting or demanding certain rights or privileges.
Dana Robbins is an uncertain, often tentative, frequently frightened father of three teenagers who occasionally allow him sufficient leave from parenting duties to publish The Hamilton Spectator. Dana’s previous, non-parenting roles have included publisher of Grand River Media and editorin-chief of The Hamilton Spectator. During his tenure as editor-in-chief, The Spectator was the recipient of more journalistic honours than at any other time in a generation. More importantly, it gave Dana a public platform from which to embarrass his children, an indulgence he continues to enjoy to present day. Come hear Dana’s dynamic, personal account of the difficulties of parenting and learn how no one – not even the most successful professional – is exempt from the difficulties posed by raising children in the world today.
