Read the selection carefully. Then answer the questions that follow. Planets and Stars are often mistaken for each other because it is not easy to tell them apart. But the following difference in appearance may help. Stars are so far from the Earth that they appear only as points if light. This is probably the reason why the stars of Bethlehem is often illustrated with elongated points of light. As the light from the stars strikes the atmosphere, the warm and cold air current make it unsteady. Thus, we see stars twinkling from afar. The planets on the other hand are near the earth. Except for Pluto as, the planets appear as discs. Since there is no light to strike the atmosphere, planets do not twinkle. Instead, they shine with a steady light.
