God Wants To Use You - But Are You There?

DAILY STUDY/MEDITATION

DATE: 11TH MARCH 2009 TEXT: JOHN 2: 1-11 TOPIC: THE PLACE CALLED “THERE”

NOTE: What I have shared with you here are the insights, thoughts and inspirations that came to me as I meditated on this verse of scriptures. It’s just a skeletal picture, but as you go through the study yourself, you will be able to put more flesh to it as the Holy Spirit guides you through. STUDY V1: “And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there:

The third day – very significant day, because Jesus rose up on the THIRD DAY! Marriage – This is a UNION between 2 people. Man and woman become one by the institution of marriage. 

Mary the mother of Jesus was THERE

V2: Jesus was THERE too! – He was invited V6: And THERE were SET THERE six WATERPOTS of stone, after the manner of the purifying if the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. V7: And Jesus saith unto them. Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. V8: And He saith unto to them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

THE MARRIAGE It was a happy day for the couple that were getting married. It was a day that they looked forward to with joy and happiness in their heart. THE PROBLEM They ran out of wine! The day started on a glorious note, but almost turned into a disaster, and would have brought shame upon both families, except for the intervention of Jesus. His wisdom and the persistence of a woman (Mary) who refused to take NO for an answer, saved the couple from starting their married life with shame hanging over their head.

THE SOLUTION 

Jesus told them to FILL the waterpots with water to the BRIM!



There were 6 waterpots that were SET THERE. Those were not the only pots in that town, but the only ones present at the scene where He performed the miracles. The pots were SET THERE ready for the master’s use.

Where are you in your relationship with God? Are you THERE in that SET place, waiting on Him for instruction and direction? Or are you somewhere else doing your thing? Somewhere busy where it is almost impossible to hear God’s voice? The pots where right THERE at the scene where God wanted to manifest His glory. Where are we whenever God is looking for a man to use? We are too wrapped up in our problems to hear Him calling? 

Notice that the servants could not draw out wine for the guests to drink until they had first filled the pots to the BRIM. God cannot use you to touch other people’s lives until you first allow Him to fill you up with the water of His word! And He can only do that when you position (SET) yourself rightly in His presence (THERE)

WHERE IS THERE? The bible says that Mary, Jesus and His disciples were THERE at the marriage. Marriage is an institution where a man and woman live together in unity as husband

and wife. “Two shall become one”. THERE is place of union. A place where two becomes one. A place where “I” gives way to “Us”. IF YOU WANT TO:     

Live a shame-free life Be an instrument in God’s hand Experience the miraculous power of God on a daily basis Be a blessing to your generation Do those things that please God

THEN YOU MUST:     

Go to His word like an empty vessel so that He can fill you with revelation knowledge and wisdom – to the brim. Become united with God in spirit and in truth – John 4:24. Position yourself THERE in His presence. Be sensitive to His move in your life and around you Yield yourself to the Holy Spirit, because He is your Guide and Helper.

INSIGHTS       

Our relationship with Jesus is what makes all the difference in life Possessing a persistence spirit like Mary, in order to see the lives of others changed goes a long way with God. You cannot be a blessing to others until you are prepared to follow God’s instructions. God cannot use you until He fills you. The servants poured in water, and drew out wine, where the water is the Word, and the wine is the Anointing! One with God is majority When you yield yourself to the Holy Spirit , He will help position you where you will be filled up and used of God.

PRAYER LORD…, 1. Help me to pull myself away from every distraction around me, so that I can focus solely on you.

2. Create in me the desire to come to your presence daily, so that I can be filled with the water of your word. 3. Make me a blessing to my family, friends and all those that I come in contact with. 4. Give me the strength (grace)to yield myself completely to the promptings of Holy Spirit.
