 Born in Venice  Son of artist Giovanni

Battista Tiepolo, whom was his teacher, and he became his chief assistant.  Assisted his father in: Venice, Wurzburg, Vicenza (Villa Valmarana), and in Madrid (Royal Palace of Charles II ).  Works in the Italian Rococo Era  After his father’s death he returned to Venice to work in his city.

 Fancy influence and the

grandiosity of his father but more realistic and deliberate  He went from the religious and mythological to a secular style.  Lots of drawings with ink wash  He painted his experience of the city  flamboyant and theatrical style/delicate use of light and color(Veronese)/extraordinar y handling of space/lively movement  Very solid execution of his
