Christopher

Biography Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 on the town of present-day Gujarat, India. He was born to two Hindu parents and at the age of only 13, Gandhi married Kasturbai Makhanji. Gandhi and Kasturbai had 5 children, with the eldest one passing away a few days later. When Gandhi was 19, he studied Law at the University College London. Gandhi also signed a

The

Pass

Law

The pass law was a law that requires nonwhite people in South Africa to carry a passbook at all times to provide proof that they have been authorized to live and travel around South Africa. Gandhi violated the law by burning and encouraging other non-white people to burn their passbooks as a form of protest of equality against the British. At the conclusion, Gandhi was arrested along with many others who followed suit. I admire Gandhi for his immense courage to speak out against the British, and I agree with him wholeheartedly. Passive Resistance Philosophy The Passive Resistance Philosophy is a form of protest using non-violence. Gandhi supported this philosophy and encouraged others to fight with love even though they get attacked violently. Gandhi promoting non-violence is a great peaceful way to attack the British. The Salt March The Salt March, led by Gandhi was to march to Dandi, Gujarat and make salt. At the time this violated the British Raj Salt Laws. This salt much is what triggered Indians to fight for their independence from Britain. This movement cause global attention and what sparked for more Indians to join the movement for independence. Indians all over India began violating the British laws and started to create and buy illegal salt.

Gandhi’s Philosophy Gandhi didn’t want violence to obtain

My Views I agree with Gandhi, having a country divided and separated isn’t a good feeling. Unfortunately this was the only solution to end the violence and prevent people from dying between the Hindu’s and Muslims. Even still now, there is still hatred between Pakistan and India, after the recent Mumbai attacks this proves that the hate has not faded away since Gandhi’s times. Perhaps in the future when Pakistan and India have learned to understand and respect each other will they start talking about unity. An example of this is North and South Korea which also had
