FUZE FFV 651 FILLING & ASSEMBLY FOR 84 MM (HEAT) AMMUNITION PROCESS/OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS : PRELIMINARY PREPARATION AND SUB-ASSEMBLY OF FILLED BASE SCREW : 1.

Receive filled base screw assemblies in approved service boxes and keep on the wooden floorboard in magazine Bldg.no. 960 and keep at the assigned place.

2.

Receive safety device assemblies filled not more than 50 Nos in each Thermo coal/plastic tray from room No.3 and keep on the table at assigned place.

3.

Bring Base Screw assemblies not more than 50 Nos in each thermo coal/plastic tray & keep on the table.

4.

Take one Safety Device assembly from the tray and assemble one securing ring on the semi circular cavity on the shoulder of safety device.

5.

Insert the safety device assembly gently into the Base screw assy. and slide down fully home.

6.

Keep the assembly in thermo coal tray provided & convey for further operations. Not more than 50 No. in one tray. NOTE : Thermo coal tray used for handling /carrying ammunition should not be handled independently, always keep them in a light wooden cases. ELECTRIC DETONATOR ASSEMBLY IN SAFETY DEVICE

7.

Receive Electric Detonator duly passed in felt lined FQ 396 container and keep at the assigned place. Not more than 50 No. in one container.

8.

Receive safety device assemblies in trays from Room no.1 & keep at the assigned place. Not more than 50 No. in one tray.

9.

Check proper working of the assembly & resistance checking fixture.

10. Ensure that the tools & equipments are properly earthed. 11. Take a safety device assembly & place in the fixture. 12. Take one electric detonator with the help of tweezers provided & clamp in the pneumatic collet by the safety switch provided. 13. Operate the switch & measure resistance of the elect. detonator between 60 ohm to 120 ohm. 14. Operate the pneumatic switches provided, so that the arm in which the safety device is placed & one elect. detonator is fitted will move over to the fixture in which the safety device is placed & one elect. detonator will gently fall in to the cavity of safety device. 15. Replace the pneumatic switch, so that the arm will go back to the original position.

16. Slightly lift the fixture and screw down the screw provided on the safety device to secure the electric detonator firmly. 17. If electric detonator does not fit properly then it will be pressed by special tool. 18. Take out the safety device from the fixture and apply one drop of Varnish over the screw head by means of brush. 19. Check the assembly visually & keep in the tray provided. 20. Pass on the safety device filled for further assembly. ASSEMBLY OF BASE SCREW AND SAFETY DEVICE : 21. Receive safety device assembled with base screw assembly, not more than 50 Nos. in plastic tray and keep it at the assigned place. 22. Receive components & freshly prepared cement R.D 1286 and keep at the assigned place. 23. Take a fuze base assembled with 'o' ring and place on the "filling" tool provided. 24. Take one base screw assembly fitted with safety device & clamp in the ring provided. 25. Clamp the above unit into the collet provided by operating the pneumatic switch. 26. Position the electrical contact of the base screw assembly over the safety device properly, ensure proper contacts. 27. Operate the pneumatic switch & read the resistance between 60 K ohms and 350 K ohms and release the switches. Keep the pass & rejected items/units in separate trays. 28. Disconnect the electrical contact from the unit. 29. Take a sliding washer and assemble on the safety device.

30. Take 3 nos. of spring washers and set it properly and place over the sliding washers on the safety device in base screw assembly. Assemble plastic cap & 'O' ring small duly greased. 31. Take the fuze base from the filling tool & apply a thin coat of R.D 1286 on the threads of the fuze base. 32. Screw down the fuze base into the base screw assembly fully home by hand and finally tighten it with the pneumatic torque wrench/spanner. Ensure wrench is set at torque of 5 + 1kg/cm . 33. Release the pneumatic collet & take out the fuzes from the collect and keep in the tray provided. Not more than 25 No. 34. Convey the trays containing filled fuzes to room no. 1 for packing & shifting to X-RAY or Magazine. 35. The Bldg. will be swept frequently and the sweepings, so collected will be deposited under water in the waste explosive container kept in the corridor duly covered with lid. Waste explosive so collected shall be disposed off as per the instructions of the Head of section. 36. Rejected filled components will be placed under oil in respective containers & disposed off by sending to Explosive Disposal Ground (EDG) on weekly basis. (i) SPECIAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ( Do's ) 37. All the equipments must be statically earthed. The static earthing connections should be checked once in a month and record maintained 38. Tools, equipments & other objects coming into contact with electric detonater shall be earthed. 39. The assembly & resistance checking operations must be carried out behind the shield. 40. The floor shall be swept/wiped with water daily.

41. Electric detonators never to be touched with the fingers. 42. Not more than 100 nos. electric detonator to be kept in front of operator 43.

Relative humidity of room should be maintained between (55 + 5) % and recorded after every 2 hours.

(i) SPECIAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ( Do's ) 44. The electric detonator being spark gap type and extremely sensitive, utmost care must be taken while handling & carrying out assembly operations. 45. All operations must be performed under the direct supervision of experienced and trained supervisory staff. 46. A shop log book/register should be maintained with essential details about pass and rejected quantity. 47. L.P.testing of the building should be carried out periodically once in six months and record maintained. (ii) SPECIAL HAZARDS TO BE AVOIDED ( Don'ts) 48. Detonaters are extremely sensitive to static charge, shock and friction should be avoided, and handled with extreme care. Cartons/carrying box with detonators must not be dropped, dragged or sharply put down but should be lifted clear from place to place. 49. Do not keep more than 200 Nos filled safety devices in front of detonator assembly operation at any time. 50. Loose fuzes in work trays will not be allowed to handled roughly and should not be dropped.

51. Work trays contained filled fuzes will not be dragged, pushed, slid or sharply put down.They will be lifted clear from place to place. 52.Do

not perform any operation which is not given in GSD, unless it is approved by the competent authority. ****************************
