First-aid practical skills and tips

Roles and Responsibilities (In chronological order) 1.Preserve life Access situation QUICKLY and SAFELY Protect casualty and bystanders From dangers Treat most serious Situation first(treat the most serious casualty first/treat most life-threatening; serious condition first) 2.Promote recovery Treat other ailment Arrange Hospital/Doctor/clinic) Prevent cross infection(wear GLOVE ALWAYS! NO GLOVE USE PLASTIC BAG) 3.Prepare for medical aid If possible,guide medical aid to casualty;bystanders job Report observation to those taking over Casualty, give further assistant if necessary

Communication guide Golden Rule:Keep talking ALWAYS EXPLAIN WHAT U ARE GOING DO If casualty ask a question try to answer honestly. If you don’t know SAY U DON’T Reassure the casualty that it will work out fine(even after treatment) Do not leave someone whom is dying or seriously ill (try to maintain communication, hold his hand Talk about normal things Additional note(circumstance) Ask for details of what happens if both of u only Ask for next of kin if making arrangement for pick up(parents, older siblings)

Care with confidence Be calm(take slow deep breathe it helps) Practice self-restrain in terms of reaction Be GENTRE but FIRM

Action at an emergency 1.Access the situation Consider-Danger, need to call for “Secondary aid”, any bystanders to help 2.make the area safe last resort evacuate casualty from danger scene 3.Give Emergency aid Conscious? If no proceed to check for Airway 4.Get help from others-NOTE;DO NOT CROWD AROUND CASULTY NOT A FREESHOW/Give clear instruction) Bystander may help in the following make the area safe Call for assistance Get First-aid equipment help in First-aid help in evacuation of casualty

action plan 1.CHECK FOR DANGER 2.ask for a bystander to call for a ambulance if present or u call 3.allocate manpower/log supplies provided 4.go to the casualty ONLY 1 TALK PLEASE SAY 4.1/hello sir i am a train First-aider,i can help u u must put u trust in me. 4.2/ vary: if someone is treating the casualty besides you tell your casualty that he is at XXX 4.3/PLEASE TALK TO HIM AND PREPARE FOR TREATMENT Together 4.4/TELL U CASULTY WHAT U DOING and meanwhile can talk about other things like how old are u sons daughter NORMAL QUESTIONS PLEASE.

Unconscious casualty Primary survey: D-danger is there danger yes?do u want to take calculated risk etc go down if no R-response tap him on his shoulder and say in a moderately loud voice HELLO SIR/MDM ARE U OK?NO REPONSE GO DOWN A-AIRWAY PUT 1 HAND ON HIS FOREHEAD AND DO HEAD TILD CHIN LIFT NO obstruction move down B-BREATHING CHECK FOR 10S EYE ON CHEST EARS TO MOUTH no breathe move down if present check for bleeding then put in recovery no breathing give 2 rescue breathe and move down

Unconscious casualty C-Circulation check the Carotid pulse RADICAL FOR BABY got circulation do rescue breathe . Give 1 breath every 5 seconds. Count the seconds as "one-one thousand, two-one thousand," etc., taking a breath on "four- one thousand" and breathing into the victim on "five-one thousand." Check for a pulse after about 1 minute of rescue breathing (about 12 breaths) if no circulation do CPR/AED/CCR(Old syllabus,new syllabus after you check for breathing if there is no breathing proceed to CPR/AED/CCR) H-bleeding conduct a full body check if no bleeding and other things that can be treated place casualty into recovery position and monitor vital signs till medical aid arrive
