Final Report

Abstract Nowadays, many new products are invented to simplify or fulfill the human needs. An engineer must have a critical thinking to design a new product in order to attract consumers to buy and use the product in the daily life. The product should consider the ergonomic and safety factors. The designed product is ought to compete in the current market to make a profit for the company. Therefore, we are planning to invent a product that consists of mp3 and a good sound system on a chair. We can enjoy the music besides relaxing ourselves. The device is made builtinto the chair. By gathering all the components into one place, it can prevent from missing. The device is called “Music Chair”. The main objective for us to produce this product is to give the relaxation to the consumers while they are using this product and to give opportunities to the handicaps so that they can feel comfortable while they are using the modern technology. The only differences or the advantage of the music chair is the music box that it has on the chair. A particular user just put the mp3 on the USB port and clicks play on the mp3 device to enjoy the music. The music chair is suitable with radio application also.

The product should consider the ergonomic and safety factors. The designed product is ought to compete in the current market to make a profit for the company. Design is to sketch an outline for, to plan to do, a working plan or pattern, an arrangement of parts, form, color etc. Before the product is produced, survey must be made in order to tackle the costumers demand. The next step is definition of the problem. This phase in design conceives the mechanisms and arrangements that will perform the needed function. It is consist of goal statement and task specifications. The third step is synthesis. In this step, the designer combines separate parts to form a complex whole of various new and old ideas and concepts to produce an overall new idea or concept. After that, analysis has to be done. The designer must specify the dimensions, select the components and materials, and consider the manufacturing, cost, reliability, serviceability, and safety. Then, the next step is evaluation. it is consists of prototyping and testing. Product evaluation is the final proof of a successful design and usually involves testing a prototype in a laboratory or on a computer that provides the analysis database. The last step in design process is presentation. The designer must be able to understand the need and describe a design graphically, verbally, and in writing.

PROBLEM STATEMENT 2

Entertainment is of the most popular activity among the youth nowadays, especially music. Many electronic devices which we can get easily to listen to the music. For instance, mp3s, walkman, etc, along with great a sound system, the music heard is more pleasant. Therefore, we are planning to invent a product that consists of mp3 and a good sound system on a chair. We can enjoy the music besides relaxing ourselves. The device is made builtin to the chair. By gathering all the components into one place, it can prevent from missing. The device is called “Music Chair”.

NEED STATEMENT The objective of this project is involve on how people want to take the entertainment like music and help them and became easier. This is because entertainment is of the most popular activity among the youth nowadays, especially music. Many electronic devices which we can get 3

This material is light, so that our product can move from one place to another place easily. Although this material is light, it also very strong because their shear stress and tensile stress is better than others material. The product should consider the ergonomic and safety factors. The designed product is ought to compete in the current market to make a profit for the company. Before the product is produced, survey must be made in order to tackle the costumers demand. OBJECTIVE

 To give the relaxation to the customer while they using this product.  Give some entertainment for customer with enjoy a music on the chair. 4

 Give some news around us with an fm radio on the chair.

 Give opportunities to the handicaps so that they can feel comfortable while they are using the modern technology.

GOALS  The goal of this project is to design a product that will customer can enjoy music and

some entertainment while relaxing on the chair. Thus, all function such as mp3 port, speaker and radio is built on the chair.

HOW IT WORK? FRICTIONALLY The function of the music chair is same with other usual chair. The only differences or the advantage of the music chair is the music box that it has on the chair. For your information, on the top of music chair has a speaker with both side and subwoofer function. Otherwise, the user can enjoy more music with download song at the system of USB port on the chair.

A particular user just put the mp3 on the USB port and clicks play on the mp3 device to enjoy the music. The mp3 device will connect through to the audio system on the chair and give the good system of audio. The music chair is suitable with radio application also. The user will tune the frequency at the audio system and enjoy the music and some news around us.

The chair is more efficient for the person want to rest and relax their mind with enjoy a music. Therefore, the music chair can take at any place such as at bedroom and study room. Its means, the music chair is suitable for any generation to make their happy and enjoy the music.

PURPOSE & MARKET:

Our product name is ‘MUSIC CHAIR’. The function of our product is simple, to give relaxing, while listen a music on the chair. This chair marketing is target to students and office workers. In addition, our product special features included a best speaker, USB port connection with control system, music mp3, radio and news. By the way, this product is limited and just produces only 200 units. After some assumption, we have decide that our product price in RM 250-RM 300 that are included delivery to house (only 100 km from company) and warranty up to 6 months.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENT:

This product performance is, the chair has a USB port that use to listen music with a good sound system and some news from a radio on the chair. The leg chair is flexible and gives a great stability of the chair. Maintenance for this product is set to be two times per month. The maintenance includes inspection of the lifting device, speaker system and others. The inspection can be done by the user by follow the guidance book given. This chair is user friendly and easier to operate with high performance. The cost of operation is lower because we are using less worker but with higher skills.

CORPORATE CONSTRAINTS: 10

The time to market is been decide is 1st half at 2010. We decide to open tender to all supplier that can supplier our component need with lower price and maintain rate supply. The trademark is “enjoy music without tension”.

In the corporate responsibility, based on our product design, the user will have a comfortable and harmonic environment that will generate many creative ideas and soothing soul to them. With the list given above, it will increase user work performance to maximum level example student and office worker that will perform to very good level.

Firstly in chair leg, we are enlarge the space because to stable the chair when the use sit on this chair. So that, it will held the force or weight that has been imposed on it. This option is more different with the old concept of study chair that are using fixed leg, it are not considered the ergonomic type as our product use. For material and color, the material that we use for our project is aluminum

alloy. This material is light, so that our product can move from one place to another place easily. Although this material is light, it also very strong because their shear stress and tensile stress is better than others material. For the comfortable, the chair is more efficient for the person want to rest and relax their mind with enjoy a music. Therefore, the music chair can take at any place such as at bedroom and study room. Its means, the music chair is suitable for any generation to make their happy and enjoy the music.

As a conclusion, we hope that our product will be beneficial to the entire costumer and we believe that this product will achieve our selling target. It is because this product has many advantages. One of them is it is good for entertainment. It is because we can hear to our favorite song while we are resting on this chair. This product is also good for us to release tension especially when we come back from work. This is because we can choose our favorite song to listen and we also can choose our favorite channel while we are listening to the radio. This product is suitable for all the customers no matter who he or she is, fat or thin. This product is made from a good material and we are confident that we will be success with our new product.
