Lies

• Have you ever told something which is NOT TRUE? • How often do you encounter the need to tell false things? • Whom do you often or usually tell this kind of make believe lines? • Are you guilty?

• ABRAHAM LINCOLN (ATTRIBUTED): You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.

MARK TWAIN: Always tell the truth. That way, you don't have to remember what you said.

• A hurtful truth It is better to be told a hurtful truth than to be told a comforting lie

MARK TWAIN: When in doubt, tell the truth.

• • VIRGINIA WOOLFE: If you do not tell the truth about yourself you cannot tell it about other people.

Tadah!!! Pamparampammpam!

The TRUTH about LIES

lie laɪ/ [lahy] • –noun • 1.a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood. • 2.something intended or serving to convey a false impression; imposture: His flashy car was a lie that deceived no one. • 3.an inaccurate or false statement. 4.the charge or accusation of lying: He flung the lie back at his accusers.

Lie ---an intentional violation of the truth. Lies are emphatically condemned in Scripture (John 8:44; 1 Tim. 1:9, 10; Rev. 21:27; 22:15). Mention is made of the lies told by good men, as by Abraham (Gen. 12:12, 13; 20:2), Isaac (26:7), and Jacob (27:24); also by the Hebrew midwives (Ex. 1:15-19), by Michal (1 Sam. 19:14), and by David (1 Sam. 20:6).

Why We Lie By Robin Lloyd, Special to LiveScience It boils down to the shifting sands of the self and trying to look good both to ourselves and others

"We find that as soon as people feel that their self-esteem is threatened, they immediately begin to lie at higher levels."
