A vision for mental well-being • Mental wellness is an issue for all and is a part of whole health • Solutions need to be built around diversity and choice • All sectors, regardless of size or focus, can make a positive contribution to improving black & minority ethnic communities experience of mental health services

Mental health Community D e v e l o p m e n t Wo r k e r s f o r City & Hackney Our aim is to work together with organisations (small & large, community, voluntary & statutory) to build strong mental health and well being activities for City & Hackney’s diverse communities, strengthening existing & building new activities

The project is part of Delivering Race Equality in Mental Health Care National Action Plan, which aims to improve black & minority ethnic communities experience of the mental health system.

How can we help? By supporting you to use a range of approaches• Creatively include mental health & well being in outreach & events

T h e p ro j e c t h a s b e e n s e t u p t o suppor t y o u t o

• Support community members with tools to explore mental well being & self help skills to protect mental health

• Find practical ways to include black and minority ethnic, refugee and new arrival community mental health needs into strategy and day to day work • Plan and try out ideas for activities which support mental well being, challenge stigma and promote positive attitudes and understandings of mental health • Build a range of activities & support for community members to incorporate mental well being into their lives • Signpost people to activities, support and services • Make the most of funding opportunities for new projects and initiatives • Find ways to bring the voices of community members to the table to Influence mental health planning & commissioning

• Develop different levels of activity, from stress management & peer support to supporting recovery • Access to up to date mental health information in a range of forms and languages through a local web-based network • Understand the map of mental health & well being in City & Hackney • Link up with people who want to develop ideas and cross sector work
