City of Seattle Gregory J. Nickels, Mayor

Seattle Public Utilities Ray Hoffman, Acting Director

August 5, 2009 Dear Mr. Fark, On behalf of Mayor Nickels, thank you for contacting Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) to inquire about the delivery of your recycling container. SPU appreciates your diligence in following up on this matter, and we thank you for your patience and understanding while awaiting a response. First, please accept our sincere apologies for the delay you experienced in being delivered your new recycling container and for the inconvenience you were caused in the interim time. Unfortunately, at the time you initially made your request, there was a shortage of recycling containers, which is likely the reason that you did not receive your container within our standard five day time frame. However with that said, since our contractor Waste Management received additional shipments of the recycling containers last week, upon receiving your e-mail I requested that the delivery of your 64 gallon recycling container be expedited. Additionally, I requested that John Herrick, the Supervisor of SPU’s Solid Waste Inspections Team verify you received your container and it is my understanding that you spoke with him yesterday and confirmed that you received the 64 gallon recycling container last week. While I trust that your underlying concerns have been resolved by Mr. Herrick, should you have any further questions regarding the solid waste services you are being provided, I would encourage you to contact the City of Seattle’s Dumpster and Recycling Services line directly at (206) 684-7665. Otherwise, should you have any general questions about your account and the services SPU provides, please direct those to our Customer Service Call Center at (206) 684-3000. Again, thank you for taking the time to write and I hope that your future experiences with SPU will be greatly improved. Sincerely,

Ray Hoffman Acting Director of Seattle Public Utilities
