FACULTAD DE HUMANIDADES EARLY ENGLISH TEACHING PRACTICE Vise II 2009 TEAM TEACHING STAGE Name of student teacher: ……………………………………………………………… ….. Name of School: Liceo Brandau de Ross Number of students: 30 Date:May 26th, 2009

Class: 2ª Medio B

Task 1: For the following questions describe as accurately as you can the type of work performed as the guide teacher assistant: 1. What kind of activity did you perform the first time your guide teacher asked for your help? How long did it take? Actually I haven’t been asked to do anything. I created the activity on my own, because I noticed that teacher was afraid to deal with the students and she was all the time complaining about the students’ behavior so I decided that I had to teach something to the students. Regarding the time it took, it was like 45 to 50 minutes where students had to do some exercises about the Simple Present. 2. What were the students doing before you started helping out? Who gave the instructions, you or your guide teacher? The students weren’t doing anything, they were just talking, some of them were waiting for the teacher to do something, nevertheless these students are not motivated about their learning process. They just go there because their parents make them to. The instructions were given by the teacher. 3. How did the students react? Describe the atmosphere of the room and the levels of engagement in the room. A little group of students are willing to learn because they like the subject, but in my opinion there were no special reaction they obeyed what teacher ordered. The atmosphere of the room is very strange since a little group participate in the class the rest which is the mayority do nothing but chatting or listening to music. The teacher doesn’t care about the entire class just the ones who are interested in the class. 4. What other assignments were asked you to do? How often? As I said before, I haven’t been asked to anything, and this situation happens every class. I explain the class to students and I created the test that they gave before the strike. 5. What activities or resources did you propose? Were they used? How effective were they? The activities that I performed were the explanation of the Simple Past and the creation of exercesises, and I think that they were very succesful beacuse in the test there were very good grades. In my opinion, the students pay more attention to me than the teacher maybe because I am younger and I can interact with them easily.

6. Were you asked to prepare any kind of special audio visual material for the required assignments? How did the student like it? No, there haven’t been any special activity related to audio visual material, nevertheless the teacher wants to watch a movie to do something different and maybe to motivate those who aren’t interested in the class. 7. Did your guide teacher provide feedback on your performance in the classroom? How often? How did you react? No, the teacher hasn’t told me anything about my perfomance, but I think I am doing a good job since the students pay attention and the good results in the test.
