“Advertisements along roadside” Their suggestion to use photocopies of sales brochures means using paper – more papers – more rubbish. This contradicts their statements that their solution minimize rubbish problem. Otherwise, their actions were good. They were effective. Public awareness has been achieved. By: JM Qistina (03B3743) Desirable changes 1:  It is good to have an electronic advertisement, but it is too costly to afford it. When the advertisement is used for a shorter time, so it is a waste of money to afford or buy the electronic advertisement. Desirable changes 2:  Writing letter to the Town & country Planning is good action, to acknowledge this issue to whom may it concerned. Desirable changes 3:  Advertise using sms, I think nowadays, it is not effective. But do not know in future. By: Hartini Hassim (03B3723) The group has done their job very well. They followed the ‘action plan’ step by step as planned. It is true that the budget spent for advertising is expensive. The suggested solutions such as using electronic media such as through radio, sms, mms, etc might help to solve the problems. The action plan is very effective and the letter that has been sent to the BB weekends has been published. This is quiet a

good news, so that the responsible authority will take action and start to think of possible solutions. By: Hjh Suriani Christina Eu Nguk Ling • • • •

Letters written to Borneo Bulletin are not too safe or trustful. They should have chosen other newspaper company like the Brunei Times. They can also create their own webpages on the internet about ‘Advertisement along roadside’ to create awareness and educate people around the world if possible (their own advertisement) What happen to the flipboard and billboard after use? Can they be recycled. If not, what will happen? What can be done? How? Their action was quite affective but they can do more better. Some onf my suggestions are given above.

Desirable change 1 (use of electronic advertisement): It was good because it avoid from using material that is not sustainable. The action plan was good because use other countries as an example. From those examples Brunei can practice it. However, Brunei cannot afford to use all available technology at the moment. Desirable change 2 (reinforcement of Law): It was good and it is important to act according to law. Action plan- use newspaper to distribute their ideas to the public. At least public or the companies get to know that such laws do exist. However, some just might ignore because for example accident cause by advertisement is very rare in Brunei. Desirable change 3 ( Use less money): May be they can persuade the government to reduce the annual budget for advertisement. The action plan was good because they go to each company to know about the budget use annually. From there they can know whether the total budget is a problem (e.g wasting)

The action plan that were done were good, where using SMS,MMs are saver way and cheaper and faster. For me if giving people handout for advertising for me it costs a lot of money because some people do not bother to read it and at the end, the advertisement paper falls to the dustbin. • The digital boards are more effective due to government pay all the payment. And I do agree about the schedule for the people who in charge for each zone to look for overdue date of advertising to take off the advertising.

1. May your group can give suggestion to UBD’s admin/HEP to put up guidelines on limits and allowed type of advertisement in UBD compound (safura). 2. UBD may able to practice advertisement through sms or mms (safura). 3. All the action plans that have been done so far are good because most of the information given are adequate (Rufaidah). 4. Other action that they could have made is that making a website for their project where people can read and give feedback directly (Rufaidah). 5. For third presenter, instead of reducing money, company should reduce their advertisement budget (NorAliham). 6. For third presenter, if you can find a test subject to prove the desirable changes, it would be better (NorAliham). 7. For second presenter, good action plan (NorAliham). 8. For second presenter, you can ask some company and introduce them to the current law (NorAliham). 9. For second presenter, ask those company if they know that such law is available (NorAliham). 10. For first presenter, using sms is a nice features but can be considered spammable and annoying (NorAliham). 11. For first presenter, e-advertisement is nice but many Bruneian especially senior generations use the internet frequently (NorAliham). 12. For first presenter, media is probably the best digital advertisement due to their availability (NorAliham). 13. Overall action plan were god enough, however somethings could be done as well. Advert through sms, survey can be made whether people are willing to have advert coming to their inbox; because other would see them as junks. Other possible solutions is to write letter with DST to ask them cooperate with other

companies if they can distribute advert through sms to DST subscribers. They could also pick one company and have them as one ‘experiment’, whther they are willing to make people aware through sending SMS to public DST (Fuzzy). 14. Willing letter to Borneo Bulletin was very effective because people will become more aware of current situation and problem (Fuzzy).
