Samuel Parris Samuel Parris went to Harvard University in Massachusetts until 1673 when his father died. After He graduated he moved back to Barbados and inherited his father’s land. In Barbados Samuel bought two slaves, one named Tituba and the other named John. In 1680, Samuel Moved to Massachusetts and married Elizabeth Eldridge. In 1686 Samuel decided that he wanted to be a minister and began working at churches. In 1686 Samuel became the preacher for Salem Village. Samuel’s daughter Betty and his Niece Abigail are both afflicted most likely by the teachings of his slave Tituba.
