LYT Engage (weekly drama sessions for 13-18 years)

@ The Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh. Engage is a programme of high energy sessions for young people aged 13-18 years, which make ideal taster sessions for a range of theatre skills and for the Lyceum Youth Theatre itself. A chance to develop your skills, work with LYT tutors and other theatre professionals, focusing on different aspects of drama in each 5 week block. Priority is given to those on the LYT waiting list.

Block 1: 23rd Sept – 28th October 2009 (Please note there is no session on Weds 21st Oct as it is half term)

Using Scripts Creatively Scripts can be taken as a starting point for creating theatre but do not have to be the be all and end all. In the first block of Engage sessions, we will be using scripts as a starting point to develop new characters and scenes through improvisation, looking at the different ways improvisation can affect the interpretation and performance of text.

Block 2: 11th Nov – 9th December 2009

Action and Reaction In the second block of Engage sessions, we will be considering the importance of reaction, dialogue and onstage interaction of actors in improving performance.
