EWING TOWNSHIP ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION, January 16, 2007 CALL TO ORDER-OPEN PUBLIC MEETINGS STATEMENT: A meeting of the Ewing Township Environmental Commission (EEC) was held on the evening of Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in the Ewing Township Municipal Complex. Chairperson Erin Indelicato called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. She began by reading the following statement: The notice requirements provided for in the Open Public Meetings Act have been satisfied. Notice of this meeting was properly given in the resolution by the Ewing Township Council on January 3, 2007 which was transmitted to the Times of Trenton and The Trentonian, filed with the Clerk of the Township of Ewing and posted in the Ewing Township Municipal Complex, all on January 4, 2007. ROLL CALL:

REORGANIZATION OF EEC: Steve Elliott, Township Clerk, administered the oath of office to Maria, Hal, Mike and Scott. Erin welcomed the new members and asked all to provide brief personal histories and expectations. Erin asked all for expressions of interest for the EEC positions of Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary. Votes were conducted with the following results: Chair: Vice Chair: Secretary:

MINUTES APPROVAL: The minutes of the December 19, 2006 meeting were approved on a motion by Pete, seconded by Lee. The vote was unanimous. Copies of the 2006 minutes were submitted to the Township Clerk after the meeting. At the request of the Clerk, future EEC Minutes will be submitted immediately after approval (generally on a monthly basis) PUBLIC COMMENT: Bob Brooks (882-2375), Ewing resident, asked the EEC for help in determining if the demolition of mold-contaminated buildings at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is a hazard to nearby residents. Mr. Brooks stated TCNJ said the mold was mitigated prior to demolition. Mr. Brooks said he can provide a copy of the mitigation contract. He will deliver it to the EEC mailbox. Maria will attempt to gain additional information on the demolition program. She will also contact the Township Health Official, Allen Lee, to see if there is additional information. STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: Planning Board and Site Review: Erin participated in the review of Ewing’s 3rd Round Fair Share Housing Plan. She noted the 2nd Round expires in February. Natural Resources Inventory/Conservation Element (NRI/CE): Lee will contact Patty Elkis, DVRPC, to tell her to proceed with the final edition of the CE. The CE will be placed on the Web page ASAP. Erin gave grant information from ANJEC to Hal for review.

OLD BUSINESS: Open Space: Not discussed. Sustainability: Erin will continue to attempt to schedule a tour of the Jewish Community Center building. Erin noted that there is a Phase 2 plan for the OPUS Property and that we desperately need a Green Ordinance to address this development. Mike said there will be a meeting on solar panels at the Princeton Home Depot on 1/23/07 at 7:00 pm. He will attend and provide a summary. CORRESPONDENCE: None

NEW BUSINESS:

Erin will submit our 2007 application for ANJEC membership Erin will initiate the Annual Report. The Mercer County Earth Day celebration is 4/21/07 at the Ice Rink in Mercer County Park. EEC needs to decide on level of participation. Erin asked all to think about what they want to be involved with this year and be prepared to discuss at the next meeting.

ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business Maria moved to adjourn, seconded by Hal. The EEC adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
