About Educasia Educasia is a small, independent organization providing low-cost, copyright-free education materials and teacher support services for Asia. Educasia’s context-based, learner-centred learning materials for young adults and adults cover various subject areas including English language, social science and community management. Educasia also provides pre-service and in-service teacher training and curriculum advice to target group organisations. Educasia’s teacher training services include fundamentals of teaching and subject area workshops.
Key Responsibilities Educasia is looking for an experienced and committed Teacher Training and Programme Support Consultant to work with independent English-language programmes throughout Myanmar. The post holder will act as a key point of contact and support between the Educasia head office in Thailand, and target group organisations in Myanmar. Responsibilities will include: • • • • • • • • • •
Organising, designing and conducting pre-service and in-service teacher training workshops (including fundamentals of teaching, English language, social science and community management) throughout Myanmar focusing on the development of learner-centred learning techniques. Liaising with education organisations and teachers to identify teacher training needs and priorities. Assisting with the development of Educasia’s teacher training materials and strategy. Organising training workshops for visiting consultants working in cooperation with Educasia. Providing ongoing teacher support services to target group organisations and teachers. Identifying and liaising with peer organizations in the education sector relevant to Educasia’s aims and objectives. Visiting target group organisations and teachers to ascertain needs and advise on good practice. Liaising with education organisations, teachers, students and other stakeholders about curriculum and materials needs and priorities. Liaising with partner and peer organisations in the education sector. Attending education conferences and events in Myanmar relevant to Educasia’s aims and objectives.

Overseeing a small resource library of learning materials. Generally supporting Educasia’s activities in Myanmar subject to needs.
Experience, qualifications and attributes The ideal candidate would have the following*: • • • • • • • • • • • • •
University degree Myanmar ctizenship Fluent written and spoken English (other languages a bonus) At least three years’ experience teaching English language (preferably to young adults and/or adults) At least two years’ experience training teachers (preferably of young adults and/or adults) in learner-centred learning techniques A demonstrated interest and commitment in promoting applied learner-centred learning techniques A high level of organisation and an ability to prioritise tasks effectively Ability to work independently as well as an effective member of a team Pragmatism and ability to adapt effectively to changing situations Excellent communication skills Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Ability and willingness to travel frequently over large distances in Myanmar Computer literate with a good knowledge of common computer programs, including Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel, etc.), Internet and email applications. Experience with other programs including Adobe PhotoShop, PageMaker, InDesign, Acrobat, etc. will be looked upon favourably

Salary & Benefits Salary commensurate with experience in line with Educasia’s salary policy. All travel and accommodation costs incurred while travelling on Educasia business will be covered in line with Educasia policy.
