We are all commanded by Christ to edify one another. Edify (from Old French edifier, from Latin aedificāre to construct, from aedēs a dwelling, temple + facere to make) has been defined as the following. To instruct especially so as to encourage intellectual, moral, or spiritual improvement. The act of one who promotes another's growth or building up in Christian wisdom, piety, happiness, holiness. Here are some good verses on the subject. Romans 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. Romans 15:1-3 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. 1 Corinthians 10:23-24 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. 1 Corinthians 14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. 2 Corinthians 10:8 For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed. 2 Corinthians 12:19 Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying. Ephesians 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Now every believer is given some gift of grace that's to be used to help others. All is given as it seems best to Christ to bestow upon every one. He received for them, that he might give to them, a large measure of gifts and graces; particularly the gift of the Holy Ghost. Every believer receives the out pouring of the Holy Ghost in their hearts and lives by the grace of God given to obedient servants, who baptized in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.) for the forgiveness of their sins. The baptism allows the imparting of the Holy Ghost as it did Jesus (Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him.) and fulfills the salvation formula (1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.) found in Mark 16:16. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned. Finally, these verses in closing. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord (Acts 10:36 Jesus is Lord of all.) with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths. May God give you wisdom in all things.
