DEVELOPING VIRTUE ALUMNI Developing Virtue Alumni (DVA) is an independent nonprofit organization founded in 1995. Our twofold purpose is to: 1. Create a solid support network of former students and affiliates of the Developing Virtue Secondary Schools (DVS). 2. Establish a strong relationship between DVA & DVS for continuous improvement in education and student welfare. DVA aims to fulfill its goals through meaningful programs, fun events, and an active online community. Our organization membership includes graduates, former students and summer camp counselors & students.

Educational Award & Scholarship Program The Education Award & Scholarship (EAS) Program was established by DVA in June 2009 to encourage and recognize alumnus who dedicate their time in creating positive contributions to educational standards of Instilling Goodness & Developing Virtue Schools (IGDVS) and enriching the welfare of the students.

Developing Virtue Alumni Educational Award Purpose: To recognize alumni who have made long-term commitment to work at IGDVS. Category: Nomination, Merit & Need-Based Award Amount: $1000 to $3000 Candidate Eligibility: I. II. III. IV. V.

Alumnus of IGDVS (graduate, former student, or former camp counselor or student). Currently works full-time at IGDVS for more than one consecutive school year. Demonstrated outstanding character while working at IGDVS. Made significant, positive impact and contributions to the quality of IGDVS education and/or welfare of the students. Completed Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

DVA is based in California, USA, with members in Canada, Europe and Asia.

DVA, IGDVS staff and CTTB community members submit Education Award candidate nomination form to DVA|EAS Program by January 1. A Profile and 360 Review of each candidate is conducted. A vote is taken to finalize the recipient of the Award by end of IGDVS school year.

The Developing Virtue Alumni Educational Award is presented to an exceptional and committed alumnus who is currently working full-time for more than one consecutive school year at IGDVS as a teacher or administrative school staff.

DEVELOPING VIRTUE ALUMNI

Developing Virtue Alumni Educational Grant Purpose: To encourage alumni to volunteer at IGDVS after college. Category: Application & Need-Based Award Amount: $500 to $1000 Candidate Eligibility: I. II. III.

Alumnus of IGDVS (graduate, former student, or former camp counselor or student). Demonstrated capability to work full-time at IGDVS for at least one full semester. Submitted the Developing Virtue Alumni Education Grant application with a written proposal on how he or she intends to make a significant, positive impact and contribute to the quality of IGDVS education and/or the welfare of the students. Completed Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

IGDVS is composed of the Girl’s School and the Boy’s School. Both are located inside The Sagely City of Ten Thousand Buddhas (CTTB) which is situated in Talmage, California, USA.

DVA alumnus submits Education Grant application and proposal to DVA|EAS by January 1. Candidate applications and proposals are reviewed. Based on the availability of funds raised, a vote is taken to finalize the recipient of the Grant by end of IGDVS school year.

The Developing Virtue Alumni Educational Grant is presented to a dedicated alumnus who has volunteered for at least one full semester at IGDVS as a teacher or administrative school staff.

Developing Virtue Alumni Scholarship Purpose: To support dedicated alumni in pursuing higher education. Category: Application, Merit & Need-Based Award Amount: $100 to $500 Candidate Eligibility: I. II. III.

High school graduate of IGDVS with valid diploma. Demonstrate high academic achievement in college (minimum GPA 3.0 or equivalent) and exemplary character. Volunteered as an alumnus for 80 hours (or 2 weeks) in the past year for IGDVS or DVA. For example, IGDVS mentor, summer camp counselor, DVA web maintenance, etc. Submitted Developing Virtue Alumni Scholarship application and test scores.

IGDVS Boys’ School & Girls’ respectively organizes yearly Summer Camp Program to give young children a taste of what it is like to study and live in CTTB.

The Developing Virtue Alumni S c h o l a r s h i p i s p re s e n t e d t o a dedicated alumnus who is currently pursuing towards a 4-Year University degree (current AA degree students included) and continues to contribute to IGDVS or DVA community.
