SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE

2018 (OSPC 2018)

1. Pursuant to Republic Act 7079, otherwise known as the "Campus Journalism Act of 1991 and in preparation for the forthcoming Regional Schools Press Conference 2018, there will be a joint Elementary and Secondary Division Schools PressConference 2018 (DSPC 2018) with the opening ceremony and individual contests on August 28, 2018, 8:00 A. M. at CAA Elementary School-Main. The conduct of group contests shall be on September 1,2018, 7:00 A.M. and the awarding ceremony will be on September 7,2018, 1:00 P. M. in the same school.

The Conference aims to: a. demonstrate understanding on the importance of Journalism by expressing it through different journalistic endeavors and approaches; b. sustain advocacy on social consciousness; c. provide a venue for enriching learning experience for students: d. promote responsible journalism and fair ethical use of media; and e. enhance journalistic competence through healthy and friendly competitions.

3.

The Conference activities shall include the following: a. individual contests; b. group contests; c. collaborative publishing contest; and d. radio broadcasting contest.

4. Participants to this activity are the School Paper Advisers and the Campus Journalists in the different categories in Elementary and Secondary levels. A pupil/ student may only join one (1) category either in English or Fili~~_,_~~~""""!""_,,,,,---,

5. Contestants for Editorial Cartooning shall bring Mongol pencil #2, oslo paper and other tools. 6. Contestants for Photojournalism shall bring their cameras with empty memory during the contest. 7. Specific guidelines for each contests are in DepEd Memorandum No. 149,s.2015 and DepEd Order No.4] s. 2010. 8. All schools are enjoined to start training their campus journalists in different categories of the said contest.

9. The Divisionshall shoulder Php 67,360charged against the DivisionMOOE subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations. 10. Each school shall pay a registration fee of Php 2, 266.67 (budget computation attached) for the conduct of the said contest. Expensesrelative to this activity shall be charged against Journalism/ local funds/ school MOOE subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations. 11. Schedules of activities, contest venues, committees and persons-in-charge are attached.

Immediate and wide dissemination of this Memorandum is desired.
