Amacan P Product Features -- to our Customers’ Benefit Example: Amacan PA4 800 - 540/120 6UAG
Cable mounted with strain relief.
The cable entry is absolutely watertight. Multiple safety by: 1. Long rubber gland. 2. Cable sheathing embedded in resin. 3. Individual cores stripped, tinned and embedded in resin.
Specially designed lug for receiving crane hook allows installation and removal even when inlet chamber is flooded. (No need to enter the discharge column.) Extremely small flow losses in the discharge column due to slim motor, - therefore cheap, smaller discharge columns, - smaller civil construction.
Early detection of faults possible by means of bearing temperature control. Motor optimally adapted to pump characteristics with low starting currents. On request, most of the pump types can be supplied as explosion-proof versions, too.
Thermal protection prevents motor damage due to overheating. Very good pump efficiency curve allows a wide operating range. Patented, standard moisture sensor as additional safety device (motor protection).
Mechanical seals in tandem arrangement, trouble-free operation guaranteed for many years due to liquid feed and high quality, wear resistant sealing materials.
Early detection of faults possible by means of bearing temperature control. Float switch in the leakage chamber for monitoring the mechanical seal. High operational safety due to protected sealing chamber.
Self-centering positioning of the pump in the discharge column by its own weight. Sealing ensured by an O-ring. No additional anchoring or rotational protection required. Fast installation and removal of pump as disconnection of pipes and cables is not necessary.
Fibre-repellent, self-cleaning ECB blades. (Ever Clean Blade)
Vortex-free inflow due to baffle plates.
Bellmouth with casing wear ring as standard design against cavitation and wear. A special casing wear ring is available for heavy duty applications.

Guarantee, testing and quality control Every pump undergoes a functional test. The operating data are guaranteed according to ISO 9906/A, DIN 1944/III or other comparable international standards. The quality of each pump is guaranteed by an audited and certified quality assurance system meeting the requirements of standard DIN/ISO 9001.

Amacan P General remarks Advice for pump design The guaranteed point for the pipeshaft--mounted pump is at 0.5 m above the motor (DIN 1184). Documented curves are designed for this reference level. Head calculations have to take this into account. Head and capacity data apply to media with a density ρ=1 kg/dm3 and a cinematic viscosity ν up to 20 mm2/s. If necessary correct the required power according to the density of the pumped medium: P2req. = ρmedium (kg/dm3) x P2docu The decisive factor in establishing an operating range is always the duty point with the greatest power input. Propellers are selected for the specific operating point. With an operating point between two incidence angles, it is always the nearest blade incidence angle that has to be selected (Pay attention to the tolerance zone accepted!). In case of doubt, the next higher incidence angle is to be selected. -- Discharge head (Htotal) The total discharge head of the pump is composed of: Htotal = Hgeo + D HV Hgeo -- static head - w/o discharge elbow -- difference between suction-end water level and overflow edge - with discharge elbow -- difference between suction-end and discharge-end water level D HV -- plant losses - starting 0.5 m behind the pump: e. g. friction losses, elbows, non-return valves etc. -- Efficiency When using a special wear ring, efficiency must be reduced by 2 to 3 %. -- ”ESK losses” These are losses, produced by inlet, ascending pipe and elbow (or free outlet). Losses at inlet and ascending pipe are contained in the curve documentation up to the above reference level (0.5 m above the motor). -- Inlet chamber The values documented for the inlet chamber refer to the maximum volume flow of each pump size. Smaller inlet chambers are possible, consultation with the manufacturer is required.

Frequency converter operation For frequency inverter operation, the motor power margin should always be approx. 5 % in addition to the efficiency margin kP2. Frequency inverter operation in connection with explosion protection is possible: -- Thermistor trigger device with PTB conformity mark (PTB 3.53-PTC/A) must be used. -- Current limitation must be set to IN (rated power). -- The setting range must be limited to 25--50 Hz.

Amacan P Electrical accessories -- Amacontrol SDC Amacontrol SDC is a micro--processor based unit for monitoring submersible motor pumps type Amacan P. It replaces all conventional equipment normally needed for registering the signals provided by the sensors installed in the pump. The system consists of two components: 1. One integrated sensor module ISM which is fitted in the pump. All sensor data are registered and digitalized inside the pump. They are then transmitted to the analysing unit via a serial data bus. 2. The analysing unit Amacontrol must be mounted in the control cabinet. A simple display and operating interface provides the operator with a continuous stream of information about the current sensor values. An Amacontrol SDC pump monitoring system must always comprise a sensor module installed in the pump and an analyzing unit. It is not possible to use the Amacontrol unit for pumps fitted with conventional sensors.

When ordering a carrier cable, the lifting height of the crane must be considered! This determines the number of lifting lugs which are reguired for installation / dismantling of the pump in the discharge column.
