Help us celebrate our ongoing success with good food, drinks, and friends! It seems like you can’t turn on the TV or open the newspaper without hearing about some new development in the efforts to end the war on drugs. In the face of thousands of violent prohibition-related deaths, Mexico recently decriminalized possession of small amounts of drugs. Argentina did the same just a few days later. While Latin Americans seem to be turning their backs on the failed policies of the past, some states, including New Mexico, New York, and California, are implementing their own drug policy reforms. Plus, the debate about drug policy in the media has never been hotter. And to top it off, the Drug Policy Alliance, the nation’s leading organization of people who believe the war on drugs is doing more harm than good, is hosting the International Drug Policy Reform Conference in Albuquerque this November.
