Reason for implementation of Tribal Sub Plan in the area The existing earning sources are meager thereby the people in this area are living the life of poverty in general but the condition of tribal populations is apathetic in particular. The incomes generated are not catering the present need & there is shortage of basic requirements like investment in healthcare, child education, nutritious & balanced food. The economy of this segment of the society moves around livestock rearing only. Furthermore the quality of the livestock is poorest as compared to the other areas of the district because of their reluctance to upgrade their local livestock through artificial insemination. The percentage of cross bred cattle with these people is less as compared to the state average. This leads to poor milk yield, leaving them economically far behind from the rest of the society. The feed & fodder resources are limited owing to marginal land size and priority for the cultivation of crops for human consumption. The villages covered will be Brenwar, Jabad, Negoo, Chana Mohalla, Bonen, Paharipora and Kutubal. The area is not scientifically equipped, with the result the proper health cover & treatment is not carried on modern scientific basis. The Superior Milch animals, backyard poultry chicks and feed may be provided to them for raising their socio-economic standards. Economic Impact: These initiatives will increase the yearly Milk, Egg & Poultry Meat production by around 6 lac litre’s, 15 lac and 100 quintals and the incomes generated will be 2.4 crore, 75 lacs and 15 lacs respectively. It means investing rupees 1 crore this year will generate an yearly income of rupees 3.3 crore, which will increase geometrically in following years. It will also augment the livestock & poultry population by their proliferation ability. Besides this it will encourage the livestock farming on large scale, generate ample employment opportunities for the educated youth and help the state in becoming self-sufficient in Milk, Poultry Meat & Egg production.

WORKS TO BE UNDERTAKEN A team of Officers/Doctors visited the area & found that the area needs immediate concern & up-gradation of local livestock to cross bred as early as possible. To improve the financial conditions and boost the purchasing power of these downtrodden population for rearing livestock for more profitable industry. The following initiatives need to be taken to make the target tribal population economically progressive farmers. One good quality milch animal should be provided to each deserving household of this marginalized segment of the society. Feed for winter months may be provided to tap the full potential of these animals and keeping in view the shortage of fodders in this area, as the land is not very fertile. One time help in reconstructing/renovating the exiting animal sheds so that the desired space as per the scientific protocol may be provided as per requirement. Incentivizing the Mass castration Programme will help in eradicating the primary impediment for up-grading their livestock, therefore their daily milk production will increase, which will fetch more income thereby improving their income status and providing employment opportunities to these landless, ST and marginal livestock owners. A portion of the proposed amount may be earmarked for the District Liquid Nitrogen Plant to supply adequate Germplasm & Liquid Nitrogen to these areas, so that percentage of Cross bred population may be developed at rapid pace. The area is suitable for Backyard poultry farming. Providing 20 poultry chicks to 500 households, will give a stupendous increase in their income generating resources. This will enhance egg production and meat production of the area with profound impact. Providing feed for these chicks will boost the rearing on large scale. Since the area is far flung, ambulatory facilities must be ensured so that their livestock may be treated properly by a qualified veterinarian, far which an ambulance may be provided specially to cater their emergency needs. By this, the area will get proper health care facilities & treatment for their livestock on modern and scientific basis.
