Press statement on news of a foreigner allegedly entering Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's compound in Rangoon 8th May 2009 "the responsibility for negative consequence from lack of her [Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's] security rests totally with the SPDC government."
1. The Myanmar Ahlin, a state-controlled newspaper in Burma reported that the authorities arrested a foreigner in the Inya Lake of Rangoon early Wednesday while he was returning from the secretly entering Daw Aung Suu Kyi's residency compound. 2. This shows evidently that there is no assurance of her security at all while she is being under house arrest by the Burmese military government, namely the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC). The DPNS has grave concerns on her security. 3. Following this report, the DPNS General Secretary Khin Maung Tint said "the responsibility for negative consequence from lack of her [Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's] security rests totally with the SPDC government." 3. The SPDC government constantly attempts to dishonor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's political role and disgrace her personal integrity whether through whispering propagandas or through its controlled media outlets. The DPNS suspects that the release of this news is yet another attempt by the SPDC to harm the reputation of her political uprightness and personal integrity. 4. The DPNS also notes that this news follows closely behind the SPDC's highlighted reports on resignations of members of the National League for Democracy (NLD) and the rejection of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's court appeal against the unlawful extension of her house arrest. 5. The DPNS denounces the immoral and low-life tactics and conduct of the SPDC in its attempts to discredit the NLD and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and warns the SPDC government to stop such immoral and frivolous acts.
