To advance his purpose,king built his Ethos and appealed to people’s pathos and logos. Dr.Martin Luther King’s Purpose for writing the “letter from birmingham jail” was to show the world that people were not getting treated like human beings. He used appeals to Ethos to appeal to authority and credibility.king begins his argument with various appeals to Ethos.He making them feel he is trustworthy”My dear fellow clergymen”This is an appeal to Ethos because they can trust him because he is part of the church too.This advances his Purpose by more understanding because he is man of god.The second reason he offers is “Unwise and untimely”.This is an appeal to Ethos Because He is responding back and taking a time to respond.This Advances his purpose by show that he is respectful and reliable.The Third reason he offers is Ethos .
