Movie Review of "Forgotten" Is the happy family a happy family? Is the good guy really good? Is the bad guy really bad? Nothing is as it first seems in the movie "Forgotten" called "Night of Memory" in Korean. The movie was written and directed by Jang Hang-Jun and was first released on the 29th of November, 2017 in South Korea. It's genre are thriller, mystery and as well as psychological. When his sick and older brother Yoo-Seok (Kim Moo-Yul) is first kidnapped and than resurfaces after 19 days with no memory of this time, Jin-Seok (Ha-Neul Kang) is faced with a mystery. He soon realises that his brother behaves differently, as if he had been replaced. Is it perhaps no longer his brother, but someone else? Moreover, the young man hears mysterious noises from a locked room in the house, which he moved into shortly before the kidnapping, together with his brother, his mother (Na Young-Hee) and his father (Moon Sung-Geun). Did the previous owner really only store some old things in it? Jin-Seok tries to uncover the secrets behind the room and his brother... The story is clever and exciting at the same time. It played out in an unexpected way which keep you hook the entire time. It's intelligently written and excellent directed. Furthermore the movie is successful in setting up an eerie tone. By using unsettling sounds and music reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho", director Jang Hang-Jun creates a tense atmosphere surrounding his characters. Another important point is that this movie got solid perfomances from its actors. They all became really true to their characters and effective in portraying their role. Especially Ha-Neul Kang as Jin Seok and Kim Moo-Yul as Yoo-Seok. Overall, this movie is really good in all levels. From the acting department, cinematography and directing to the plot. It gave me a good amount of whoa-moments. If you're into thriller and mystery and also looking for whoa-moments -then I highly recommend this to you. It is well worth seeing! So don't miss it!
