Given your scholarly research, the Commission's inquiry would greatly benefit from your insights. Accordingly, the Commission requests to interview you on the following general topics: (1) White House oversight of the U.S. Intelligence Community; (2) management of the U.S. Intelligence Community; and (3) the performance of the U.S. Intelligence Community in countering terrorism. The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States is directed by statute to investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The Commission's mandate includes assessing the nation's preparedness for, and immediate response to, those attacks, evaluating the lessons learned, and making recommendations for preventing future attacks. As part of its investigation, the Commission hereby requests to interview you on issues relating to the use of open source information by the Intelligence Community.
