Living as a true Community Introduction

W

elcome to the last session of DEVELOPING RELATIONSHIPS. We’ve covered a lot, and we’ve learned a lot. This is now the last session and after this comes the big decision. Will you become a Covenant Member and join a LIFE Group? It takes a true, healthy environment to grow a Christian. That’s why we are going through this course together, to make sure that we are ready to embark on a journey of faith, hope and love together with others. Together we will grow as members of a LIFE Group, and consequently a Real Life Christian Community. As growing members we will help strengthen the life and ministry of our church. Hopefully, all that we have covered so far has helped each one to make a firm decision on this matter. There’s still one last lesson to discuss: what does it mean to really live as a true community?

Icebreaker Question: Describe your dream church. What would it look like?

Scripture reading: Philippians 2:1-18 Discussion Questions: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.

How would you describe the feelings of Paul in verses 1 to 4? Do you think it’s possible to obey what Paul is saying in these verses? What would be the challenges or obstacles that we might face if we apply these instructions today? How would you describe Jesus’ attitude as portrayed in verses 5 to 11? Do you think this is possible for Christians to imitate? Why or why not? What was Paul’s challenge to the Philippians in verses 12 to 13? Why was this important then? Why is it important now? According to verses 14 to 18, what would be the result if we truly live as a community?

Application: 1. 2.

Discuss the seven characteristics of a community based on this passage (see RLCC Facts Brochure). Challenge each other to fulfill this vision. Pray that God would instill in your hearts this vision of communityship.

Assignment: Pray the God would guide you in your decision whether to commit yourself or not as a Covenant Member. Pray for those who would also decide on this matter, that God would guide them also.
