Places, Please! Whole Numbers through the Millions
Directions: Goal: Place 7 digits in the 7 place value openings to make the greatest (aka…highest) number possible 3-4 players per group
You Will Need: •
1 die
•
1 Game Board for EACH Player
•
Pencils
•
A Score Sheet (Can be done on loose leaf paper)
The Way to Play: 1. Player 1 rolls the die, announces the number and says, “Places, Please” 2. Each player writes the number in any space on his or her game board. a.
The first 7 places are specific place values, the 8th spot is GARBAGE – a place to throw out 1 number…Once you write in a number in any space, you CAN’T move it. Choose Carefully!
b. You must use the GARBAGE space for each round 3. Player 2 rolls the die, announces the number and says, “Places, Please”…Again, write the number in any open place value 4. Each player takes turns rolling the die and announcing, “Places, Please” until all place values are occupied with a number…and one number for GARBAGE
5.
For each round, the players earn: a. Player with the Greatest Number = 5 points b.
Player with the 2nd Greatest Number = 3 points
c.
Player with the 3rd Greatest Number = 1 point
6. Record Scores on Score Sheet 7. Player 2 Rolls the die to begin the next round 8.
The player with the highest total score after 8 rounds is the winner!!!!
