Proposed Administrative Recommendation

Proposed Administrative Recommendation (Effective September 2010)

• Deer Run School – Regular program (K-GR6) for the residential districts of Deer Run and Deer Ridge • Including Deer River, Meadowbrook Apartments and Sun Creek Coach Homes

– Pre-kindergarten program

• Haultain Memorial School – Regular program (K-GR6) for the residential districts of Diamond Cove and Queensland

• Queensland Downs School – Surplus (Closed)

Administrative Recommendation Proposed Attendance Area Map •Deer Run School •Haultain Memorial School

Rationale for Administrative Recommendation • Haultain Memorial School is centrally located within Queensland/Diamond Cove • The central location maximizes the number of students within the school walk zones and therefore is fiscally responsible • The proposed attendance areas for Deer Run School and Haultain Memorial School take community infrastructure into consideration

Rationale for Administrative Recommendation • Maintains existing learning continuum for K-GR12 • Proposed attendance areas provide sustainable catchment areas for Deer Run School and Haultain Memorial School • Provides an opportunity for students residing in Queensland to have a larger peer group from their residential district

What about Other Options? • Alternative Program – Does not address the problem of low and/or declining enrolment in the regular program – Goal is to have 85-100 students/grade

• Bus receiver – Currently there is not a need for space for students from new and developing communities – Instructional Space Available
