is an agricultural area with the majority people making living as farmers.  Farmer union accommodate farmers interest and need in mutual collaboration towards goal : enhancement of the farmers welfare.

union in Pangkalan Village started improvement in irrigation, fertilizer distribution and local culture maintenance under mutual co-operation in a social community.  Farmer union (agricultural management) Cattle farmer union

Supporting and Inhibiting Factors Supporting Factors easy and simple technology - richness of energy resource (cow manure). - some union members have technical skills necessary for resolving problems related to biogas management. - positive response of the local people. - assistance and support from local government. - free equipments and biogas stoves from local government. - the instruments are easily reparable should they are damaged or leaked. -

Inhibiting Factors not all biogas users have technical skills so that additional personnel are needed. - biogas machines are relatively expensive for individual scope (5-7 millions rupiah per unit according to the size). -

The Potency of Cow Manure as Biogas for the Future Alternative Energy  Biogas

as alternative energy still unpopular but it has a promising prospect for the future development.  Challenge to find raw materials (animal manure) for non- agricultural regions.

Farmers as Manager  The

success story of Pangkalan Village was determined by the role of farmers as manager.  Government just stimulated but the farmers decided the success of the project.

Conclusions… 

Biogas project in Pangkalan Village, Grobogan Regency, is successful to reduce people dependency on fossil energy. As alternative energy that made from unused product, it is very useful. They can get energy without spending money. Furthermore, it can also increase their welfare.



This biogas project can be work properly because people have initiative from the beginning. Beside that, there is a big support from local and central government that makes participation from the local people become stronger.

Recommendations… 

   

Cooperation among private sector and other stakeholders to develop biogas, such as to build biogas industry, fertilizer marketing, etc. More monitoring and supporting activities to analyze and find solution for the problems in the project implementation. Give more courses and training for technical skill to the users. Expanses biogas technology to the other places. Increase the people participation to make them more active, so that they are not only able to identify their problems and needs but also to find their own solution.
