20 Texts (35 Verses): God’s passion for his own glory The universe is driven and everything exists not so that a great God might save you or me, but that God might be glorified in His infinite perfections through all that he has created and owns. The proof for this is in the Scriptures he has given us, which (because he owns and created them) are about Him and not us anyways. Ezekiel 20:5-9, God did not destroy Israel for the sake of His name. Psalm 106:6-8, God saves people for the sake of his name Exodus 14:4, Pharaoh’s heart was hardened for the glory of God. 1 Samuel 12:19-23, the beginning of the Israeli monarch was about God’s glory Psalm 25:11, “pardon my guilt for your name’s sake”…David got it. Psalm 23:3, “He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 1 Kings 8:41-45, Solomon dedicates the temple for the glory of God 2 Samuel 7:23, Israel became great and powerful among the nations for His glory. Isaiah 48:9-11, God does not destroy Israel when they deserved it, because he did not want his name to be blasphemed against by the nations. Malachi 2:2, He decided to destroy Israel because they would not give Him glory John 17:4, 7:18, 4:34, Jesus’ life and ministry was about the glory of God John 12:27-28, the cross of Christ is about the glory of God Ephesians 1:3-6, you and I are saved to the praise of His glorious grace 1 Corinthians 10:31, the Christian life is about the reflection of the glory of God 1 Peter 4:11, the Christian life is about the reflection of the glory of God Matthew 5:16, the Christian life is about the reflection of the glory of God. 2 Thessalonians 1:9-10, the second coming is about the consummation of the glory of God. Revelation 21:23, the consummation of all things is that God might be praised. And we could take these texts out and put 20 other texts in that say the same thing. The Bible is not about you or me, or finding our life in it. The Bible, along with everything else we know of or will know of is about God and God alone so that he might be praised. The Christian faith is not about self-realization, it is about Christrealization. So when I read the Bible, or when I worship, or when I am

living my life, I am living for God, constantly trying to reflect His glory.
