WE COME TO EXPOSE YOU ABOUT GOALS 5: GENDER EQUALITY
GOALS 5
Ending all forms of discrimination against women and girls is not only a basic human right, it is also crucial to accelerate sustainable development. It has been proven time and again that empowering women and girls has a multiplier effect and helps promote economic growth and development worldwide.
the previous image refers to the fact that the opinion of women is almost never valid for a man
ince 2000, gender equality is a central aspect of the work of UNDP, y se han registrado algunos avances extraordinarios.
More girls attend school today than they did 15 years ago and in most of the regions gender parity in primary education was achieved.
Today, women make up 41 percent of the non-agricultural paid labor force, compared to 35 percent in 1990.
However, in some regions there are still large inequalities in the labor market, where some women have been systematically denied equal access to employment.
The most difficult obstacles to overcome and which still persist are violence and sexual exploitation, the unequal division of unpaid work -both domestic and in the care of other people- and discrimination in decision-making in the public sphere.
Today more women than ever hold public office, but encouraging more women to become leaders in all regions will help strengthen policies and laws aimed at achieving greater gender equality.
